A man allegedly attacked and spat on a 70-year-old man after he was asked to social distance in a queue at a petrol station in Florida.

Rovester Ingram entered the mini supermarket without a mask and was reportedly confronted by an unnamed 70-year-old man who asked him to social distance.

Police said Ingram allegedly followed the man outside and began hitting him in the car park of the Citago petrol station.

It is alleged the man tried to rush back inside the shop where Ingram continued his attack by shoving him to the floor and dragging him by his hair.

The attack intensified and the terrified victim was pulled over a pavement into an adjacent car park, police said.

Ingram – who was not wearing a mask despite coronavirus concerns – then allegedly spat on the victim and kicked him in the head before he walked away.

In a statement, the WPP said: “The victim was on his stomach as Ingram repeatedly punched him on his back, then spat on him and kicked him in the head before walking away.”

Police discovered the man lying outside the petrol station bleeding and said the incident was caught on CCTV.

The victim was immediately rushed to hospital and was found to have broken bones and injuries on his face and body.

Police allegedly identified Ingram through the CCTV footage and arrested him at his home on Sunday 13 September.

Ingram was charged with aggravated battery on a person over 65 and kidnapping.

Florida reported over 200 new Covid-19 deaths for the first time in three weeks on Wednesday, as a further 202 people died.
