Man saves shop from being destroyed in wildfire by spraying Bud Light beer

Devastating wildfires are raging across California – but one man decided not to flee the flames but approach them armed with Bud Light beer.

Fires have been destroying homes and wiping out farmers’ crops in the US state.

Chad Little, from Vacaville in the state, lost his house in a previous fire five years ago and he wasn’t about to abandon the replacement he hadn’t even finished building yet.

He didn’t even give up when his water supply failed – instead he used a bit of lateral thinking and used what he had to hand.

That was a plentiful supply of Bud Light beer.

It’s America’s best-selling beer despite appearing on a number of “world’s worst beer” lists.

Chad said his mates laugh at him for drinking the famously watery beer

While the beer may be “thin and watery”, according to connoisseurs, Chad discovered it’s excellent at putting out fires.

He explained what happened to local NBC affiliate KCRA.

“It was crazy,” he said, describing the fast-moving blaze which was fuelled by exploding propane cylinders.

“Everybody’s on propane tanks. It was like a war zone.”

Chad was frantically trying to clear dry grass and other potential fuel for the blaze which was getting dangerously close to his auto shop.

The popular lager kept the flames at bay until firefighters arrived

“I was putting out fires all the way around here, stopping it from going toward the house. Meanwhile, all the cars were on fire,” he added.

While Chad already had had hoses in place in case the wildfires came his way, he hadn’t anticipated the water supply failing.

He continued: “It was burning on the wood down low, and I didn’t have any water.

“I had one barrel with a little bit of water in it, and I tried using that. It didn’t work.”

Out of water and out of options, Chad decided to try spraying the flames with beer.

He said: “When I ripped up the sheet metal, it had a nail, so I was just shaking it up, popping it just and spraying them, popping it out and grabbing another one.”

Chad carried on opening cans and spreading beer at the fire until firefighters arrived.

He said: “My buddies all tease me about drinking water beer, and I say, ‘Hey, saved my shop.’”
