On Monday, Penny, who lives in the Essex countryside with her husband Rod Stewart, 75, and their children Alastair, 14, and Aiden, nine, took to Instagram yesterday to share a picture of her free-range chickens.
The social media post captured a “proud mother hen” with her adorable chicks in their coop.
Alongside the sweet snap, 49-year-old wrote: “Proud mother hen and her little chics that hatched this weekend #chic #chickens #eggs #freerange.” (sic)
Instagram users, fans and friends took to the comments section to share their thoughts and coo over the new arrivals.
“How wonderful,” said one user, while another added: “So adorable.”
A third fan remarked: “Beyond gorgeous. Thank you for sharing something beautiful and wholesome and positive.”
TV presenter Matt, who has a farm in nearby Hertfordshire and recently reared his own brood of chicks, headed straight to the comments section of the post to offer his help.
The presenter said: “Let me know if you need any help … [thumbs up and heart emoji].”
At the start of May, The Countryfile star posted a video on his own Instagram account, in view of his 204,000 followers, which showed chicks hatching in an incubator.
He went on to reveal the eggs had been sent to him through the post, telling fans: “Egg Delivery through the post – Enjoy the process,” before asking fans: “What’s the most random thing you’ve ever had delivered.”
