McDonald’s speaks out on reopening news – when will restaurants reopen?
Earlier in the week claims were made that McDonalds would open by mid May. It was claimed the drive thru would be up and running for customers to get their hands on Big Macs or chicken nuggets.
Farmer’s Journal announced the news. A reporter for the publication tweeted: “Breaking: the @farmersjournal understands McDonalds will reopen its restaurants in the UK and Ireland in mid-May.
“Service will be limited to drive thru and delivery only.”
However, the fast food brand has made a statement in which it admitted to having no confirmed plans to open.
The restaurant took too Facebook to communicate directly with its customers.

The company said: “Well, our notifications are going wild tonight – we miss you too.
“We promise we will update you here as soon as we have confirmed our plans.
“Stay safe, stay at home and we will see you soon.”
In went on: “When we have confirmed plans, we’ll be updating restaurants and employees via Our Lounge.
“We have no confirmed plans at this time.”
It went on: “When we have confirmed plans, we’ll be updating restaurants and employees via Our Lounge.”

It then said: “This is not a decision we are taking lightly, but one made with the well-being and safety of our employees in mind as well as in the best interests of our customers.
“We will work with local community groups to responsibly distribute food and drink from our restaurants in the coming days.”
McDonald’s has given up drive thrus to admisnister coronavirus testing in some places.
People have been taking to Twitter to express their feelings about the brand.

One fan said: “My bestfriend and I have a McDonald’s world tour planned (for when we have money), where we’re going to try all McDonald’s menus around the world and then settle in the country with the best McDonald’s and THAT’S MY MOST IMPORTANT LIFE PLAN.”
Another said: “I’d love some McDonalds or other junk food or something.”
“I think I’m suffering from McDonalds withdrawals,” another said.
More than half of the McDonald’s restaurants in America remain open to the public.
However, many of the eat-in areas are closed, and delivery is encouraged.
In Australia, 100 percent of restaurants are still serving customers.
McDonald’s Australia is allowing customers to buy bread and milk at the drive-thru as a gesture to help the public during the pandemic.
While restaurants have been closed, fans have been re-creating their fast food favourites at home.
