Meghan Markle and Prince Harry married at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on 19 May 2018. At the ceremony, the Duchess was walked down the aisle by her father-in-law, Prince Charles. What did the future monarch say about Meghan before the ceremony?
It was initially thought Meghan’s mother may step in for the role, but Charles looked proud as he walked the Duchess down the aisle.
Before doing this, the future monarch reportedly said some very sweet words about the royal.
In the documentary, Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, Prince Harry spoke about the day.
He opened up about the moment he asked Prince Charles to help Meghan out.
Harry said: “I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming and he immediately said, ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you.’”
The Duke of Sussex explained Charles was happy to jump in and support his daughter-in-law.
“For him that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know he’s our father so of course he’s gonna be there for us,” Harry added.
Although Thomas was not able to attend the ceremony, Meghan was supported by her mother, Doria Ragland.
