The First Lady was not in attendance with the US President who chose to take senior adviser and daughter, Ivanka Trump. But at the ribbon-cutting ceremony Trump posed for cameras before saying: “Louis Vuitton, a name I know well — cost me a lot of money over the years.” Melania, who has been married to Trump for 14 years, has quite an extensive collection of Louis Vuitton items.
The First Lady has posed in her New York penthouse surrounded by a dozen Louis Vuitton suitcases in 2010.
The famous suitcases have also been photographed being taken aboard Air Force One as Trump and Melania flew to visit victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Melania has also been photographed shopping at Louis Vuitton.
It’s unclear if the President was suggesting Ivanka had also cost him a lot with a love for the brand but her chosen bag for the visit caused quite a stir.

The First Daughter turned up to the new factory clutching a Chanel bag.
She was savaged online for the mistake and the bag mysteriously disappeared between her arriving and touring the factory.
Ivanka, a senior adviser to her father US President Donald Trump, promoted new jobs in the area during the visit.
It comes as Trump faces calls for impeachment.
The awkward clash of French brands comes just days after Ivanka made a huge blunder on her Instagram when she tried to congratulate the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Abiy Ahmed.
She took to social media to congratulate the Prime Minister of Ethiopia but made a huge error when doing so.
Ivanka posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram story which read: “Congratulations Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on being awarded the Noble Peace Prize for your work on peace and reconciliation with your neighbour Eritrea!”
But she failed to notice she spelt “Nobel” wrong.
