Strictly Come Dancing star Mike Bushell, 54, has admitted he has been looking forward to hearing from a sleep behaviour and environment expert during today’s episode of BBC Breakfast. The presenter retweeted a post from the programme’s official Twitter page in view of his 57,000 Twitter followers last night, revealing he has been suffering from “weird” dreams because of the coronavirus lockdown.

BBC Breakfast’s show announcement read: “Have you had more vivid dreams since lockdown?

“Tomorrow on #BBCBreakfast we will talk to @thesleepgeek about changes to sleep and dreams.”

In response, Mike, who has been isolating at home in Hampshire with his wife Emily Bushell during the COVID-19 pandemic, revealed: “Oh this should be good. I have had so many.

“Weirder and weirder in lockdown.”

Fans took to the comments section of Mike and BBC Breakfast’s posts to share their thoughts on the issue.

One person wrote: “Very interesting I can’t wait what time is this section on?”

Another mused: “I always have weird dreams, but only when the weather is damp.”

Mike’s candid home life admission comes after he celebrated one year of marriage to his other half Emily in lockdown this week.

The presenter, who tied the knot with the marketing executive last summer, joked: “She hasn’t left me yet.”

Alongside a picture of the pair curled up on the sofa, Mike told his Twitter followers: “One year ago today and she hasn’t left me yet. Thanks @emilybushell80.”

In the cosy snap, the casually-dressed couple smiled for the camera while sitting on the sofa, with Mike in a grey jumper and his wife in a blue hoodie and a glass of bubbly in hand.

While responding to her husband’s post, Emily cheekily added: “Love the curled up knackered pics,” before sharing an insight into their wedding day.

“A couple of better ones here,” she wrote alongside some snaps of their nuptials.

The couple were married during a beautiful countryside ceremony in May 2019.

Mike’s three daughters Sophie, Isabel and Lucy, from his first marriage to Kim Payne, were their bridesmaids, while the bride’s son Josh gave her away.

In the wedding pictures, the happy couple can be seen in the back of a vintage car following the service.

Elsewhere, Mike explained his absence from BBC Breakfast in March was because he and Emily both experienced coronavirus symptoms.

During an Instagram live chat with his former Strictly partner Katya Jones, he said: “Yes, we’re in isolation. We’ve been here for 10 days as we both showed symptoms.”

The sports presenter explained: “We both showed symptoms and BBC said you won’t be able to come into work for a couple of weeks in order to self-isolate.

“I’ve been working from home even though actually it didn’t lead to anything and it was probably just a cold.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
