Naga Munchetty: BBC Breakfast host reacts to Charlie Stayt 'new co-presenter' question

Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt are regular fixtures on BBC Breakfast alongside Dan Walker, Louise Minchin, Carol Kirkwood, Sally Nugent and Jon Kay. The 45-year-old has now addressed a Twitter user, who asked the broadcaster whether Charlie has ever asked for “a new co-presenter”.

The cheeky question comes after the person in question joked that Naga had a tendency to “wind” Charlie up on the programme.

They wrote: “@TVNaga01 Charlie keeps a perfectly straight face no matter what you wind him up about! Has he ever asked for a new co presenter?”

The social media user later added: “I stir my tea clockwise,” referencing a recent on-air discussion.

Taking the opportunity to respond, Naga seemingly appeared tickled by the question.

In view of her 225,000 followers, the broadcaster replied: “He always asks!” followed by laughing-face emojis.

It comes after the BBC Breakfast pair recently caused a stir when they discussed making the perfect cup of tea last week.

Speaking on the show, Naga had said: “Phil agrees with me that you can’t let your tea stew.

“He stirs his tea twice clockwise and once anti-clockwise. That is the perfect mixing of ingredients.”

An unimpressed Charlie explained that it wasn’t the way to stir your tea.

“No you can’t just stir it three times,” he commented as Naga attempted to interject.

“No, can I just explain,” Charlie continued. “That’s stirring it,” as he proceeded to whizz his teaspoon inside his mug several times.

He finished: “That’s how you do it.”

Earlier this year, Naga shut down claims that she had fallen out with Charlie and she would “never allow it” to happen.

It comes after a fan claimed to have spotted some tension between the pair during a broadcast in July.

During the show, the viewer asked Naga what was going on between the pair as they seemed a little off with each other.

“@TVNaga01 Hey Naga what’s going on with You and Charlie this am?” they questioned.

“Come on we can’t have our two fav people falling out.”(sic)

It wasn’t long before Naga came back, wanting to clear up any rumours before they started.

“Ha – no chance of falling out – I won’t allow it,” she laughed off the claims.

But she warned: “But we will always tease each other.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
