According to Downdetector, a website monitoring service, Netflix has been out of service since 10:49pm. The website received 394 problem reports less than five minutes after it crashed. It is unclear if the problem is being experienced globally or just in the UK.
The Netflix app loaded on mobile phones but refused to play any programmes.
People looking to fit in a bit of TV before bed were disappointed when the web page failed to load.
Angry TV watchers took to social media to confirm the streaming service was down and share their frustration.
One person wrote on Twitter: “Netflix is down, dunno what to do with myself now. Cheers.”

Another person asked Netflix UK: “Is there a problem in the UK with Netflix this evening? I cannot get it to load!”
One person took their anger out by sharing that they were going to watch their programme on a different streaming service instead.
They wrote on Twitter: “Gonna watch the X-files on Prime instead f**k you Netflix.”
Many responded to tweets of the website being down with angry emoji reactions.
Others were more upset and used the crying face emojis to share their dissatisfaction over not being able to watch their favourite shows.
One person commented online: “We are having problems with Netflix! Not happy!”
Elisabeth Mahy shared the Downdetector report online.
She wrote: “Downdetector appears to confirm Netflix users in the UK are having problems accessing the site.”
The service appeared to be up and running shortly after 11pm.
