No Time To Die release date: James Bond heading for DELAY into 2021?

The latest James Bond movie was originally set to release in October last year. Then it was February, before being pushed back to April. But then the pandemic kicked off and now No Time To Die is due in UK cinemas on November 12.

Yet with a spike in coronavirus cases across the pond and here in the UK, fans shouldn’t be so sure that this new date will stick.

Just in the last day Wonder Woman 1984 has moved from its October 2 release to Christmas Day.

While MGM horror Candyman has been delayed indefinitely from the same month to 2021.

The same studio is behind No Time To Die, which is being distributed internationally by Universal Pictures.

So is Bond the next film to shift back to 2021?

It’s certainly possible and the last update from MGM suggested the studio is open to the possibility.

Speaking at MGM’s investor call, COO Christopher Brearton said last month, “We continue to monitor and adjust the timing of our remaining 2020 [film] slate.”

That’s hardly a commitment to sticking to the November release date, but for now that’s what MGM are “currently” doing.

Brearton added: “The theatrical marketplace is in flux.

“There’s great uncertainty about what the near term holds for access and attendance.”

The boss also said MGM were optimistic about their cinematic distribution going forwards.

It’s also worth pointing out that the latest poster for No Time To Die says “November”, but not “November 2020”.

Perhaps, this means that if No Time To Die were to shift to 2021, it would be all the way back to November 2021.

Hopefully not as it’s already been five years since the last James Bond movie released in Spectre.

No Time To Die is a direct sequel to Craig’s fourth 007 movie.

With such a gap, casual Bond fans may want to go back and re-watch the first four movies to get a recap before seeing the fifth and final one for the star.

No Time To Die’s synopsis reads: “Five years after the capture of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, James Bond has left active service.

“He is approached by Felix Leiter, his friend and a CIA officer, who enlists his help in the search for Valdo Obruchev, a missing scientist.

“When it becomes apparent that Obruchev was abducted, Bond must confront a danger the likes of which the world has never seen before.”

No Time To Die is currently set for UK release on November 12, 2020.
