Outlander fans have followed Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) relationship through the good and bad times. However, viewers know they won’t be able to watch their favourite couple of screen forever as actor Sam spoke about moving on from the Starz series.
Sam has worked on a number of other projects alongside Outlander including recent film Bloodshot and upcoming series Men in Kilts.
The actor is also favourite to take over from Daniel Craig as the next James Bond later in the year.
Speaking about what he’ll do when Outlander comes to an end and he leaves the role of Jamie, Sam said he would “miss it”.
He commented: “I think, absolutely, you look at other actors and their careers and you realise there’s always a defining role.
“This is absolutely going to be mine, of course, it’s always going to be with me.
“As we get further on in the lifetime of this show, we are going into season six now. I think I can see where the end might be.
“It’s hard to think about that and hard to think about what will happen when the show is all over.
“I think we will all miss it greatly. We already are on Droughtlander,” he added referencing on the long wait for the next season.
During the chat, Sam also hinted that his character Jamie had died on the battlefield at Culloden.
There has been much fan speculation about Jamie’s ghost which is seen in season one, episode one.
Many believe it is Jamie aged 25 when he should have died in battle, however, his fate was changed by his romance with Claire.
Talking about his near death experiences, partially the snake bite episode in season five, Sam noted: “That episode really comes out of nowhere really.”
