Paige VanZant 'close to agreeing deal' with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship

Former UFC babe Paige VanZant is reportedly close to agreeing a deal to compete in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

VanZant disappointed on her return to the UFC earlier this month being comfortably beaten by Amanda Ribas on Fight Island.

It led UFC President Dana White to suggest VanZant should try free agency with the social media star having complained over her payments from the company.

White had said: “When you talk all that stuff, ‘I’m not being paid enough,’ and you’re fighting inconsistently, one time in the last year, (suffering) injuries, and then got smoked in the first round of the fight?

“She should definitely test free agency.

And now VanZant could be set to compete in the brutal Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

Renowned MMA journalist Mike Russell tweeted: “Hearing Paige VanZant is close to finalising a deal with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.”

VanZant is a hit on social media and has 2.7m Instagram followers, regularly wowing her fans with racy selfies, including nude photos with her partner.

Her defeat to Ribas was the final fight of her UFC contract, though she wasn’t happy with the promotion.

She said: “This is the exact fight the UFC wanted. They kind of do this to people when they’re on the last fight on their contract.

“They give them, like, the perfect style match-up. I went against somebody, she’s 10-1, I’ve almost had lay-offs, calculating like three years I’ve only been able to fight once cause I keep getting injured.

“Obviously, it was the very toughest opponent they could give me for my one returning fight I had left.

“I didn’t play into what the UFC wanted. Of course, I still had confidence going into it. Amanda was so talented. I’m so excited to see where her career goes.

“Honestly, I didn’t actually see specifically the quote or what he [Dana White] said. I try not to pay attention too much.”
