What is the best time to see the Perseid meteor shower?
The Perseids will peak between August 11 and August 13, with the best viewing times typically in the predawn hours.
But the presence of a fairly bright last quarter Moon might be a slight hindrance.
Keep your eyes peeled on the skies tonight after sunset but before moonrise.
Astronomers Bruce McClure and Deborah Byrd of EarthSky said: “If fortune smiles upon you, the evening hours might offer you an earthgrazer – a looooong, slow, colourful meteor travelling horizontally across the evening sky. Earthgrazer meteors are rare but memorable.
