Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 55, took to Instagram last month to tell fans he had ripped a tendon and sprained his ankle during his family holiday in Saint Tropez. In his most recent column, the father-of-four said he had plans to lose weight and exercise as part of his break away, ahead of his accident.
My holiday game-plan was clear; exercise, swim, eat healthily, get fit, shed weight.
Addressing his holiday plans in his latest column, he said: “My holiday game-plan was clear; exercise, swim, eat healthily, get fit, shed weight.
“This lasted precisely 26 hours, until I left a restaurant tonight and badly turned my ankle over in a grass divot.”
Piers went on to say he had started his new regime by power-walking to a restaurant, which was located a mile away from their villa.
He added “As I pondered my options, I remembered a war story from SAS: Who Dares Wins star Ant Middleton: ‘On a 60-mile trek with a 200kg Bergen on my back, I felt my ankle break.

“’Some might have given up. I broke the other ankle to even up the pain and carried on’.”
He continued in his column with the Daily Mail: “I didn’t do that – but I did grit my teeth and yomp angrily and silently home, uphill and in sandals, each agonising step causing me to yelp and almost certainly making things worse.”
Piers said he had decided to shed the pounds after a fellow columnist recently joked that he “must getting very fat” with all the Ministers he had eaten for breakfast on Good Morning Britain.
The host has clashed with many Government members in recent months amid the ongoing pandemic.

Ministers soon put a stop to appearing on the ITV show completely.
The television star went on to say of his weight: “I was piling on a few extra pounds, but that was more due to lockdown comfort-eating and exhausted workout-avoidance.”
Piers is currently on a break from Good Morning Britain, which he co-hosts alongside Susanna Reid.
The journalist has been having fun in the sun with his wife Celia and their daughter Elise, as well as his three sons Spencer, Bertie and Stanley, who he shares with his first wife Marion Shalloe.

Piers and his family were recently joined by Amanda Holden and her children, who have also been holidaying in the south of France.
Taking to her Instagram page, she shared a sweet snap of her posing with a group of children, as Piers took over photographer duties.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge went on to tell her followers that her fans had “no idea” who Piers was, much to her delight.
She wrote: “Thrilled to be known & asked for a photo from these lovely children from the #netherlands and the #photographer @piersmorgan (no clue who he is @bgt).”
The presenter went on to share a picture of himself and Amanda at a dinner table.
He simply captioned the picture: “Britain’s got talent.”
Earlier this week, Piers and his wife were also joined by Dame Joan Collins and other companions.
He shared a picture of the group alongside the caption: “At the court of Dame Joan.
“Wonderful meal at Auberge de la Môle, a favourite old haunt of Princess Diana… no frills restaurant with stunningly good food that keeps coming all night until you want to burst with gastronomic joy. Fabulous.”
