PlayStation fans could have got a big hint a PS5 reveal is coming soon
The PS5 release date will be one of the biggest gaming stories of 2020 with PlayStation fans set to find out more at the upcoming reveal event. It had been rumoured that Sony were going to lift the lid on the PS5 during a PlayStation Meeting event held in New York in February. But last month came and went without any official word on the PS5 and latest rumours have been suggesting the PS5 event will now take place in March.
And as PlayStation fans await official word from Sony on the PS5 reveal event they could have been given a big hint the unveiling is coming soon.
Godfall is the first confirmed PS5 game with the title breaking cover at The Game Awards event last year.
At TGA 2019 an in-engine trailer for Godfall was revealed which announced it was coming to PCs and the PS5 in holiday 2020.
Since then more details on the action role-playing game from Gearbox has emerged while leaked gameplay footage has also dropped.
And as fans wait for further updates on Godfall they have been teased that more news on the title is coming “really, really soon”.
Godfall made an appearance at PAX East with publisher’s Gearbox holding a panel at the event.
And during it the PS5 game’s developers Counterplay Games teased they had “more to tell about Godfall really, really soon”.
The comments were reported in a post by Push Square and it opens up a whole load of questions.
The most obvious of which is does this indicate more could be getting revealed on Godfall at an upcoming PS5 event?
And if that’s the case does that mean the PS5 reveal will as rumoured be happening in March?
Sony fans can expect PS5 news at the rumoured March reveal event
If Counterplay Games are updating fans on Godfall soon it would make sense that it would happen during the PS5 reveal event.
Godfall looks to be one of the PS5 launch titles so giving an update at the PS5 reveal would make sure it reaches the biggest audience possible.
The question remains how soon is soon though, and does this indicate a PS5 reveal happening in early March or towards the end of the month?
The PS5 event is rumoured to be happening at the Sony Hall in New York and as reported by Tom’s Guide that venue is closed in March during certain dates.
In a post online Tom’s Guide said the NYC venue is closed on March 2, 25, 27 and 30 for private events.
Could the PS5 reveal be happening during one of these dates or will Sony instead opt for a date in the middle of the month?
Or, alternatively, will the PS5 reveal not be happening at a physical venue and instead take place in an upcoming State of Play broadcast?
If that’s the case then that opens the PS5 reveal to a whole host of dates in March which are not affected by whether a potential venue is booked up.
Of course, with rumours it’s best to take them with a pinch of salt until official confirmation.
But with Microsoft laying the gauntlet down and announcing some exciting Xbox Series X features recently it’s put the ball firmly in Sony’s court.
The Xbox makers are going all out ahead of the start of the next-gen to win back gamers they had lost in the current gen.
And it’ll be up to Sony to ensure they continue the momentum they have this gen into the next.
It remains to be seen whether Sony will hold a PS5 reveal in March, and if they don’t whether that risks giving Microsoft an upper hand.
But with excitement building around the next Xbox Sony will surely be mapping their PS5 plans carefully so they don’t lose ground ahead of the next-gen.
