P&O cruises will not sail until October due to the coronavirus with ‘no margin for error’

The company has also introduced a new five percent deposit for new bookings made between May 27 and June 29 2020.

The offer is available on applicable Early Saver and Select Price cruise holidays of 19 nights or fewer from January 2021.

The cruise line is looking at how it will have to change its procedures and on-board services in a post-pandemic world.

In a statement, P&O Cruises said: “For years, we have had in place many of the protocols now considered advisable for other social gathering venues, such as hand-sanitising stations and rigorous cleaning and disinfecting procedures.

“For years, we have also gone beyond those protocols by having you complete a health declaration form and having a comprehensive medical facility on board each ship providing 24/7 medical care and treatment. During the recent crisis, we added robust health screening upon embarkation, starting with thermal scanning of guests and crew.”
