Pokemon Snap RETURNS: Hit N64 favourite making a comeback on Nintendo Switch

Pokemon Snap is making a comeback on the Nintendo Switch, with the N64 cult classic making a big return.

Pokemon Snap was first released back on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, and was originally meant as title for N64 DD add-on.

It was a very niche Pokemon spin-off, but has developed a huge and devoted following who have been clamouring for a new game in the series for years.

And Nintendo has finally made this wish come true by officially announcing a brand new Pokemon Snap game today (Thursday June 17).

No release date for the title has been revealed, but the first footage of Pokemon Snap for the Switch was showcased during today’s Pokemon Presents stream.

Speaking about the return of Pokemon Snap Tsunekazu Ishihara, President and CEO of The Pokemon Company, said: “Pokemon Snap, which was released on Nintendo 64 over 20 years ago, is coming to Nintendo Switch in a whole new way.

“We’re hard at work developing New Pokemon Snap for Nintendo Switch. We look forward to sharing more details with you soon”.

While no release date has been given for Pokemon Snap on the Nintendo Switch, Ninty did tease that it is ‘coming soon’.

Which hopefully is a sign that it may be getting a 2020 release date.

Pokemon Snap is a chilled out game where you play a budding David Attenborough taking candid pictures of pocket monsters in their natural habit.

It’s sweet, relaxing and utterly charming – and considering there hasn’t been a Pokemon Snap sequel since the N64 original demand will surely be high for the Switch game.

Since the game’s initial 1999 release date, there have been re-releases of Pokemon Snap – first on the Wii and then on the Wii U.
