Detectives are seeking further information after an incident in Royal Wootton Bassett play park on Sunday. Police were alerted after a man approached a two-year-old girl and attempted to exit the park with her. Her mother, in her 20s, immediately grabbed her daughter and the man walked off.
Police say there was no verbal exchange and no physical altercation.
The woman and her child returned home safely before contacting officers.
The incident took place just before midday on Sunday at a new children’s play park near Cloatley Crescent and Churn Way in Royal Wootton Bassett – a town in Wiltshire, near Swindon.
Det Insp Paul Hacker said: “Since receiving this initial report, officers have been conducting extensive enquiries in the area.
