Popocatepetl volcano eruption: Ash clouds, molten lava rain down amid explosive eruption 1

On Sunday, the volcano observatory recorded 160 emissions of water vapour, gases and light ash content which were generated by two explosions at 7.16pm and 10.15pm local time.

The plumes drifted towards the northeast and the seismic station recorded 58 minutes of tremor.

On Monday, the volcanic activity continued with a volcanic ash plume which rose up to estimated 21,000 ft (6,400 m) altitude or flight level 210.

Typically, Popocatepetl’s eruptions are dominantly explosive, with the construction of lava domes.
