Power season 6: Fans convinced ending 'won’t change' because of Power Book II

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from the Power season 6 leaks.

In several of the leaked clips from the Power finale, it’s confirmed a number of characters do make it to the end of the story alive.

One of them is Tariq (played by Michael Rainey Jr) who many fans think will be the subject of spin-off series Power Book II: Ghost.

Producer and former Power star 50 Cent seemingly confirmed this last year when he shared a photo of Michael on the set of the show.

With the being said, the way Power ends in the leaks certainly opens up the possibility for Tariq’s story to continue.

Therefore, to change the end of Power could throw a spanner in the works of the entire plot of Power Book II.

This obstacle seemingly standing in the way of Starz changing the show’s finale has led many fans resigned to the fact they’ve already seen how Power ends in the leaks.

YouTuber and Power fan CarterMatt explains: “The way they decided to end Power, I do think a lot of it is with Book II in mind.

“If they had done this sort of linear storytelling where you have Ghost (Omari Hardwick) die within the series finale, you really get rid of this whole ‘Who Shot Ghost?’ format that they’ve done.

“I think you’d lose out on your opportunity to build up steam for a possible spin-off because if Tariq is meant to be Power Book II: Ghost, if he’s going to be a big part of it, what Power has set up now by having Tariq be one of the main focusses of the series finale – they’re kind of turning it into a backdoor pilot.”

The term backdoor pilot refers to the series finale of one show which almost acts as a set-up for a future spin-off series.

With the Power finale seemingly doing just that, surely it means it can’t be changed?

The YouTube user wasn’t alone in his thinking as one fan replied and agreed: “I agree 1000% I said this to someone the other day. I think they should have focused on what drove us to like this show, Ghost and Tommy (Joseph Sikora).
