Pregnant woman killed with baby fighting for life after 'drink drive' horror

A pregnant woman was killed forcing her baby girl to be delivered 35 weeks early after a suspected drunk driver mounted the pavement.

Yesenia Lisette Aguilar, 23, died as she walked with her husband and a motorist allegedly lost control of her vehicle.

The horrific incident occurred on Tuesday night at 7:37pm in Southern California.

Courtney Pandolfi, 40, allegedly lost control of her white Jeep which mounted the kerb, hitting Ms Aguilar on the pavement.

According to Anaheim police, the vehicle “narrowly missed” Ms Aguilar’s husband.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the mum-to-be was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center but she died shortly after.

Her baby girl, who had to be delivered in an emergency Caesarean section, is currently in critical condition according to authorities, reports Mail Online.

The driver was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries – according to police she was under the influence.

Pandolfi was reportedly driving with a suspended licence and has two prior DUI offences.

She has been arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter, felony driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.

Witness, David Oroczo said: “When I got over there, I noticed a lady on the ground who looked pregnant – her head was banged up.

“The husband was, I think, checking her pulse and when he checked, he screamed,” Oroczo chillingly added.

David had rushed to the scene after hearing a loud crash sound from his car.

Mail Online also reported other witnesses rushed over to help after seeing the chaotic incident from a nearby Taco Bell.

They performed CPR on the pregnant woman until emergency services arrived.

The road was closed off as cops examined the scene.

Police are currently investigating the incident and urging more witnesses to get in contact with the Anaheim Police Department on 714-765-1900.
