Premier League chiefs to discuss copying Ligue 1 and ending season with all 20 clubs 1

The matter will be discussed – among others – as part of Friday’s agenda, with one of the chief topics set to be whether it is possible for players, staff and officials to be regularly tested for the coronavirus.

With some NHS frontline staff struggling to get tested and a lack of protective equipment, there are fears that the Premier League would put itself directly into the eye of a PR storm.

There are also worries that the Premier League could become a strain on the NHS, with paramedics and ambulance drivers to be required at matches and the possibility of players needing treatment in hospitals.

The Premier League has however received the green light from the government to push forward with its ‘Project Restart’ scheme.

It comprises of extensive plans for behind-closed-doors matches to be held in June, with a return to training in May.

The framework will now be laid out to all 20 top-flight clubs – with the proposed timeline needing their agreement to push forward.

It’s understood all players in the league have also been asked for their thoughts on the resumption of the season.

Those who do not feel safe will not be forced to play against their will despite their contracts.
