The tumour affects the prostate, which is a small gland that’s found in the pelvis of men.
It’s not always easy to know if you’re at risk of prostate cancer, however.
That’s because the symptoms tend to develop very slowly over a long period of time.
But, one of the most common warning signs of prostate cancer is finding blood in your urine.
“The symptoms and signs of prostate cancer may include blood in the urine [and] blood in the seminal fluid,” said medical website Cancer.Net.
“Other noncancerous conditions of the prostate, such as BPH or an enlarged prostate, can cause similar symptoms.
“If you are concerned about any changes you experience, please talk with your doctor.
“Your doctor will ask how long and how often you have been experiencing the symptom[s], in addition to other questions.”
But just because you find blood in your pee, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have prostate cancer.
There are a number of different causes of the symptom, including an infection, kidney stones, and even certain medications.
Ignoring the blood in your urine could lead to even more serious complications.
The doctor may ask to take a urine sample so that it can be analysed in a laboratory.
