PS4 system update 7.50 has just been released with the latest major PlayStation download getting rolled out by Sony today.

PS4 system update 7.50 had received a limited rollout back towards the start of March when the patch was released in beta.

And now the major PlayStation download has received a general, wider rollout with PS4 system update 7.50 available to download today.

However, fans hoping the PS4 download brings with it major new features look set for disappointment.

PS4 system update 7.50 is a download that mainly improves performance.

The notes for PS4 system update 7.50 says: “This system software update improves system performance.”

PS4 system update 7.50 first became available to download in beta at the start of March.

At the time those who were selected to take part in the beta were sent an email outlining what the PS4 system update does.

The message said: “We invite you to the PS4 system software 7.50 beta test.

“Please participate in this test programme.

“Thank you for your cooperation in improving the quality of system software in the future.

“There are no new features in this beta test. Improved operation stability.”

The latest PS4 system update comes after Sony released some brand new free games for PlayStation fans to enjoy.

This week marked the launch of the new Play At Home initiative, which has been introduced as around 20 per cent of the world’s population are in lockdown.

Launching at 8pm pacific time on April 15 (which is 4am BST on April 16) two top PlayStation games became available to download entirely for free.

These PS4 titles are Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey.

These PlayStation games will be available to download without paying a penny until May 5 2020 at 8pm PDT.

Introducing the new free PS4 games, Sony said: “For most of you, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will need no introduction.

“This three-game collection from the masters at Naughty Dog includes Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception—all meticulously remastered for PS4.

“We can’t imagine a better time for globe-trotting adventures with Nathan Drake, an iconic cast of characters, and thrilling treasure-hunting action gameplay.

“Then there’s Journey, a beautiful, celebrated adventure that is as moving as it is mysterious.

“The game’s life-affirming message is timeless, and perhaps more important now than ever before.

“In alignment with SIE’s goal in preserving Internet access in the US and Europe, game downloads may take a little longer, but we appreciate the understanding from our community as we take these measures in an effort to preserve access for everyone.”

The Play At Home scheme is available for all PS4 gamers, but if you’re a PS Plus member then you can get double the Uncharted action.

That’s because the headline addition to the current PlayStation Plus line-up is AAA exclusive Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

So if you’re a PS Plus member then you can get the entire range of Nathan Drake’s console outings entirely for free.
