Where PS4 players will have had to invest in a gamepad to talk with their friends headset free, PS5 players need not.
The DualSense comes with a microphone built-in, which Sony promises will allow people to talk with their friends without a gamepad.
The developers have promised people who have taken to using the gamepad can still use them if they choose.

Rumble is no more with the PS5, as Sony’s DualSense introduces haptic feedback, a feature long in the works at both Sony and Microsoft.
Haptic feedback is fine-tuned vibration, which, much like the adaptive triggers, allows developers to alter what players feel.
The feature simulates touch, so the DualSense will allow players to feel what their character is, deepening immersion.
