The PS5 release date, price and pre-order reveal event is about to take place online.

After making fans wait for months, Sony will finally hold its next-gen PlayStation 5 event on September 16.

Fans in the UK can watch the action unfold live from 9pm BST. That’s 1pm PDT for fans in the US, and 10pm CEST for viewers in Europe.

The PS5 release date, price and pre-order event will be broadcast live on Twitch and YouTube. You can watch it right here live by clicking play on the video embed below. Express Online will add the YouTube live stream closer to the air date.

The news was announced by Sony as part of a surprise blog on the PlayStation website earlier this week.

“Before PlayStation 5 launches this holiday, we wanted to give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!),” reads a Sony post.

“Our next digital showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.

“Tune in live on Twitch or YouTube this Wednesday, September 16 at 1pm PDT / 9pm BST / 10pm CEST to see what’s next for PS5.”

While fans are expecting fresh details on the price and release date, there’s a chance Sony will delay pre-orders until October 1. You can read all about that by clicking this link.

In terms of what fans can expect, there are reports Sony will unveil the rumoured Silent Hill reboot.

Previous reports have claimed that Silent Hill will be a PS5 exclusive, and that series creator Keiichiro Toyama is on board to direct.

It’s been suggested that Sony Japan will develop the title after Konami shopped around to find different studios to fund development of a new Silent Hill.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale could also be getting a PS5 sequel. Better yet, the game is said to be a launch title for the PlayStation 5.

Titled PlayStation All-stars Arena, the game will reportedly be a 3D brawler developed in partnership with Capcom.

It’s said to be a mixture of Dissidia and Power Stone with a target lock button, cel-shaded visuals and cartoonish environments.

It’s a long shot, but there’s always a chance Rockstar will use the event to unveil GTA 6.

There’s a good chance fans will be treated to new gameplay footage from previously announced PS5 games.

This includes games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls and Horizon Zero Dawn 2: Forbidden West.
