A pub has banned two emus for “bad behaviour” after they entered the premises and caused havoc.
Known as Carol and Kevin, the birds climbed up the stairs of the Australian outback pub and created issues.
The flightless birds have been amusing locals and tourists by stealing food – however, this pub had enough after their behaviour last week.
Two of the birds have been accused of causing issues.
Publican, Chris Gimblett said: “They’ve learnt to walk up the front steps of the hotel, which has been causing just a few issues.
“When emus get a fright, they head in a forward direction but are normally looking behind so they can’t see where they’re going and this is where chaos can happen.
“They bump into everything.”
To solve the problem, Mr Gimblett has been forced to string a rope across the top of the stairs, reports Evening Standard.
Despite not being “indoor birds” the emus have still managed to get inside and create a mess.
The extent of their behaviour was disclosed by visitors living in the Yaraka trailer park who were left surprised seeing the birds steal food.
“They will lean through the (trailer) door with their long necks and pluck toast out of the toaster,” the publican said.
“If you’ve got a mug of coffee on the little table by the door, they will drink all the coffee, without spilling it I might add. You just discover that your mug’s empty. They’re just eating machines,” he added.
According to Mail Online, the rowdy birds even managed to enter go to the toilet inside.
Mr Gimblett revealed: “Their toileting inside is not particularly pleasant. That’s the biggest problem, because they do toilet quite frequently.”
Emus are the second largest living birds when it comes to height and are flightless.
