Robbie told The Mirror: “We’ve got a lot of family issues right now.

“My dad has got Parkinson’s, my mother-in-law who I love dearly has got a very big illness. We can’t get to them. My dad is thousands of miles away.”

He added of his mother: “My mum is just a year short of 80 and she’s in isolation and I can see the things whirling in her mind and her eyes going.”

Parkinson’s disease is a condition in which parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years.

The NHS states that the main symptoms of the disease are; involuntary shaking of particular parts of the body, slow movement and stiff and inflexible muscles.

Around one in 500 people are affected by Parkinson’s disease.

Robbie went on to say he was “going into fear” at the start of lockdown, but added: “The difference between me now and the person I used to be… I saw it, thought ‘That’s interesting – tomorrow will be different’.

“Whereas before I used to think that I’d feel that way for a decade,” The X Factor judge added, reflecting on his battle with depression and drink and drugs in the past.

Robbie’s dad Pete is also a singer and has joined Robbie on the stage many times.

The pair performed a duet together at Milan Fashion Week in 2018 and at Robbie’s show in Las Vegas in 2019.

He also briefly joined Robbie and Ayda on the judging panel on the X Factor.

Robbie’s parents Pete and Janet divorced when the singer was three years old.

His dad went on to marry his second wife Melanie Mills, but they split in 2018 after eight years together.

Pete recently said he was due to perform with Robbie at a gig in June, which has since been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the publication, a source said Pete is in “good health”.

The singer has been giving his social media fans an insight during lockdown this month.

Earlier this week, he shared a picture of himself sunbathing in his garden as he embraced the hot weather.

In view of his 9,972 followers, he captioned the picture: “It’s a lot easier self isolating in the sunshine.

“25 degrees in the Costa del Stoke today…stay safe.”

Last week, he also wished Ayda a Happy Birthday on his social media page.

Alongside a picture of the pair, he commented: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY today to Ayda Williams…super wife/mum/daughter-in-law…[one who understands].

“Have a great day sweetheart… love from Grampy.”

Pete is also a proud grandfather to Robbie and Ayda’s four children.

The couple share seven-year-old daughter Theodora, five-year-old son Charlton, Colette, one and Beau, who was born earlier this year.
