From July 17, customers who book to travel in September will be able to move their flights with zero change fee to travel until December 31 2020.
Ryanair’s Director of Marketing & Digital, Dara Brady commented on the news.
“In order to provide as much flexibility and confidence as possible for our customers this summer, we have extended the waiving of our flight change fee to new September bookings,” he said.
“As the holiday season will be prolonged this year, customers can now plan a well-deserved break knowing that flights in July, August and now September can be moved without any flight change fee if their travel plans change.”
The update follows some rather more negative news unveiled earlier in the week.
Ryanair announced on Tuesday that it is axing 1,000 flights as it cuts its Ireland-UK schedule in August and September.
The airline has blamed Irish travel restriction for the cancellations.
Ireland has maintained a blanket 14-day quarantine restriction on all arrivals from EU countries.
Ryanair has blasted this approach as “defective.”
More than 200,000 passengers have been lost as a result.
“[Ireland’s] tourism industry and connectivity for Irish workers commuting particularly to/from the UK is now suffering unrecoverable losses, as arriving EU passengers are forced to quarantine even while the border to Northern Ireland remains wide open with no such quarantines,” said Ryanair in a statement.
They claim the country’s travel restriction “make no sense.”
Ryanair is now calling on the Irish government to drop all travel restrictions between Ireland and the EU.
