The rumours about Samsung’s new 8K TV were true with the Korean firm unveiling its latest and greatest viewing experience at CES in Las Vegas. This all-new television, called the
Q950TS, is like nothing we’ve seen before from the Korean firm with it featuring a striking and almost bezel-free design which pushes the screen right to the very edges of the frame.
Samsung says that its latest QLED 8K telly uses 99 percent of its front surface for the display which means the tiny 2.3-millimetre bezel appears invisible.
And it’s not just on the outside where things look seriously impressive as Samsung has also included the very latest 8K technology which produces a picture that packs four times the resolution of current 4K sets.
Obviously, there’s currently no 8K content being beamed into homes by broadcasters but this new telly used clever AI-powered upscaling technology to make anything you watch appear like it’s been filmed in this sensational format.
Another nice feature is an adaptive picture setting which is able to automatically adjust the brightness and contrast based on the TV’s surroundings.
This is similar to what many smartphones and tablets now offer and should make viewing endless boxsets and blockbuster movies little easier on the eyes.

Samsung’s new 8K TV features an almost bezel-free screen
Other additions to this new TV include some pretty impressive speakers which are able to magically move the audio around the screen meaning you get an almost surround sound experience without needing to buy any additional equipment.
You’ll also find in-built support for smart assistants such as Bixby and Amazon’s Alexa.
There’s no word on price or a release date just yet but don’t expect this new telly to be cheap.
8K is still in its infancy and buying this new hi-tech TV is likely to cost thousands of pounds when it finally arrives in stores across the globe.

Samsung 8K TV
Along with Samsung revealing all, LG has also announced it will be showing off its latest TVs with the company boasting that it will be delivering the “real 8K experience”.
The Korean firm says it will introduce its expanded 8K TV lineup this week at CES 2020 with new 77- and 65-inch models joining LG’s existing 88- and 75-inch screen sizes.
LG’s latest 8K TVs also feature upgraded performance thanks to the new (Alpha) 9 Gen 3 AI Processor.
Along with pin-sharp 8K, these tellies will also leverage deep learning technology to deliver optimised picture and sound quality for all types of content through AI-based 8K upscaling.
Based on an intelligent deep learning network, AI 8K upscaling delivers vivid and accurate 8K images by analysing the content and applying Quad Step Noise Reduction and frequency-based Sharpness Enhancer to increase lower resolution content to near 8K perfection.
