Shona McGarty, 28, has broken up with her fiancé Ryan Harris 18 months after they got engaged. The pair were together for five years after starting off as friends and becoming closer when they helped each other to overcome past heartbreak.
The EastEnders star opened up about her split from the electrician, which took place last year, in a candid interview and admitted “it just wasn’t meant to be”.
Shona told the Daily Star: “We just grew apart. Nothing bad happened, it was all very amicable. We were together for a long time, but it just wasn’t meant to be.”
Although the actress said she was in a “good place” as a single woman, she insisted she “isn’t ready to date anyone else”.
She divulged: “I think it’s really important to have some time by yourself.

“When I opened it there was a ring inside and I turned around and Ryan was down on one knee and I started crying.
“We’re getting married towards the end of the year in the UK. We would like an Irish-themed wedding as my family is from southern Ireland. I’ll be inviting my friends from EastEnders too.”
Shona previously dated her co-star Matt Lapinskas, who played Anthony Moon in EastEnders, from 2012.
The TV stars broke up in 2013 when Matt was reportedly accused of getting close to his Dancing on Ice partner Brianne Delacourt.
