A Sky News interview was pulled off the air when a young child had enough of waiting for his mum’s attention.
Deborah Haynes and anchor Mark Austin were forced to cut their chat short when Deborah’s son wanted permission to have two biscuits.
The broadcaster’s Foreign Affairs editor’s young child won over the hearts of the nation for his excellent negotiating skills, reckoning his mum was more likely to agree to his request in order to have him leave the room.
However, despite some praising Deborah’s tot, viewers slammed anchor Mark Austin who abruptly ended the interview while looking away from the screen.
Mid-conversation, Deborah said: “David Cameron was talking about… Oh, I’m really sorry, that’s my son arriving, really embarrassed, sorry,” as her off-spring barged into the room.
Frantically attempting to end the drama, she exclaimed: “One second!” before turning to the camera saying: “Sorry!”
While indicating for her son to leave the room, she looked panicked as her son asked: “Can I have two biscuits?”
Agreeing to his demand, Deborah appeared as though she didn’t want the interview to come to a halt.
Deborah comes as no stranger to juggling live TV and children after carrying out a whole interview while holding her daughter back in 2013.
A startled Mark quickly quipped: “Yes ok, well we will leave Deborah Haynes in full flow there with some family duties, but that’s what happening during lockdown and trying to report during lockdown.”
Taking to Twitter, viewers instantly shared their thoughts.
One disgruntled viewer tweeted: “Who’s that rude news presenter on Sky who was mardy about Deborah Haynes’ son wanting some biscuits? Like he’s a kid, we’re in lockdown. Calm it down and have some compassion. Absolutely rude af response tbh. See the humour in it.”
While a second went on to say: “Deborah Haynes is a very savvy presenter and shouldn’t have been cut off. She was cool in a minor crisis and her son was charm personified. Null points, Mark A!”
“Handled dreadfully by the presenter – much sympathy for Deborah Haynes,” claimed a third.
“We all remember how we laughed & loved the dad in this situation. Appalling.” penned a fourth.
