Sony hasn’t refreshed its flagship WH-1000XM3 headphones in almost two years ago and it certainly feels like they’re due an upgrade. Since they arrived back in August 2018, Sony’s biggest rivals have released new and dramatically improved wireless headphones. These include the Bose 700 Series, which are redesigned from the ground-up and aimed squarely at competing with the Sony WH-1000XM3.
Thankfully, Sony fans could be treated to an upgrade that will bring its cans on equal footing with the competition. A new listing spotted by The Walkman Blog may have revealed what’s coming next from Sony. According to a post on Best Buy, the new cans will purportedly be called WH-1000XM4.
Although nothing has yet been officially confirmed by Sony, it appears these new headphones could feature improved smart functionality with access to the Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Siri.
Another big change being rumoured is Bluetooth 5.0. This could be an important upgrade as it’ll offer improved sounds, better range, and longer battery life as the wireless technology is more powerful and more efficient.
Along with the listing, images have also surfaced with appear to show that the WH-1000XM4 will look the same as the WH-1000XM3 and that’s not the only similarity.
