Southern Star Pharmacy Gives Back to the Dallas Community During Our City's Most Desperate Hour

DALLAS, TX, June 09, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ — In the country’s biggest, small town, southern hospitality has taking on a new meaning. Dallas based pharmacy Southern Star is a full-service, retail pharmacy, specializing in customer care. Today, the local pharmacy announces its new program to support those in need throughout the Dallas community. Syeda Ahmed, Director of Southern Star Pharmacy, recently appeared on Good Morning Texas to explain how this unique company is going the extra mile for families and frontline workers impacted by COVID-19.

Normally, Southern Star shines through their proactive services, which provide customers with a tailored pharmacy experience. While the local pharmacy carries the same prescriptions and accepts the same health insurance as big-name pharmacy companies, Southern Star Pharmacy meets each customer’s needs through industry leading expertise and personalized service. More often than not, Southern Star customers are hand-delivered their prescriptions, even when the request involves higher scheduled medications.

When asked what people should look for in their pharmacy, Ahmed replied, “A pharmacy is part of your health. However you’re going to select a doctor should hold the same criteria when selecting a pharmacy….You shouldn’t go to a pharmacy where you’re just a number. That’s your frontline health care advocate.”

Southern Star’s dedication to the Dallas community extends beyond meaningful customer relationships. In addition to thanking doctors on the front line with care packages of masks, sanitizer, and chocolates, Southern Star has offered support in other ways. To help Dallas frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19, the pharmacy donated over 5,000 FDA approved PPE masks to a local ambulance company, and more were sent to nursing homes to protect the most vulnerable members of the community.

During the height of the outbreak in Dallas, Southern Star donated over 1200 meals to families through the North Texas Food Bank. According to Ahmed, the donation was just the start of a new community support program at Southern Star.

“What we are [pharmacies] doing now in a time when the community needs them the most?” Ahmed urged. “We are there to not only provide PPE to our healthcare providers but also to provide those hot meals…basically to tell them you’re our heroes and we have your back; Southern Star is behind you…whether it’s a good day or bad day.”

What began as a close partnership with local businesses and the meal prep company, Map Meals, has transformed into an engaging program, in which pharmacy customers can get involved. For anyone in Dallas that transfers their prescriptions to Southern Star Pharmacy, a meal for a family of four will be donated to a local church, food bank, or first responders organization. As a company that puts its customers’ needs first, Southern Star’s values remain at the forefront of their mission, especially during a time when every act of generosity can make a difference.
