Spain holidays latest: Second tourist region back in lockdown as coronavirus spreads

The Foreign Office issued major new updates for Britons visiting Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey yesterday.

In Spain, travellers are now advised that they will no longer be required to self-isolate upon entry but must meet three requirements.

The FCO explains: “On arrival, travellers entering Spain from the UK will not be required to self-isolate.

“However, they will be subject to the following three requirements: provide contact information and any history of exposure to COVID-19; temperature check [and] undergo a visual health assessment.”

One of the municipalities affected by the new La Marina lockdown is the seaside resort of Ribadeo by Galicia’s border with the neighbouring region of Asturias.

It is on one of the popular St James Way pilgrim routes.

As part of the lockdown rules people will only be able to take their face masks off on the beach when they go to swim in the sea.

Bars including tapas bars will only be serve customers at tables and will have to close at midnight. Face masks will have to be kept on at all times except when people are eating something or drinking.

Face masks in Spain are obligatory at the moment on public transport and in public spaces indoors like shops as well as outdoors.

But outdoors they only have to be worn when social distancing cannot be guaranteed or when people are doing sport.
