Square Enix news: Nier Replicant Remaster gets surprise PS4, Xbox One reveal 1

Square Enix have today surprised Nier fans by revealing a remaster of Nier Replicant for the PS4, Xbox One and Steam.

Nier Replicant is the precursor to 2017’s critically acclaimed Nier Automata which debuted on the PS4 first before heading to other platforms.

All that has been revealed of the new Nier Replicant so far is a short teaser trailer announcing the game and revealing artwork and music for it.

The reveal trailer also announced that the Nier Replicant Remaster is being developed by Toylogic, who also worked on the 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI.

Nier Replicant is an alternative version of the original Nier game which was released for the PS3 and features a younger main character.

The other version of the action RPG, Nier Gestalt, was released on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 and saw you take control of a middle aged man.

While it received a mixed critical reception on the release, Nier has gone onto become a cult classic while Nier Automata received rave reviews.

The Nier games are a spin-off to the Drakengard series which first debuted on the PS2 back in 2003.

Nier as well as the first two Drakengard games were developed by the now defunct Cavia studio that the game’s director Yoko Taro was a part of.

Cavia also worked on the brilliant Resident Evil rain gun shooters The Umbrella Chronicles and The Darkside Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii.

Following the Nier Replicant Remaster reveal the Square Enix Japan website set-up a page dedicated to the upcoming action RPG.

On it the site says a release date for the Nier Replicant Remaster is yet to be confirmed.

The news comes as it’s been revealed Yoko Taro’s mobile RPG SinoAlice, which first debuted in Japan in 2017, is getting a worldwide release.

SinoAlice was planned for a launch outside the Land of the Rising Sun back in 2019 but this was delayed.

However, it has now emerged SinoAlice will launch across the globe on July 1 with a Google Play pre-registration site now live.

The iOS registration page for SinoAlice will become available later.

SinoAlice stars Alice from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Other fairytale characters such as Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Princess Kaguya and Sleeping Beauty also feature.
