The government has announced the minimum wage will rise from April, giving nearly 3million Brits more money in the bank.

Workers who receive the National Minimum Wage will see their pay increase depending on their age, with 21 to 24-year-olds seeing an increase from £7.70 to £8.20.

The National Living Wage will rise from £8.21 to £8.72 per hour.

As it stands, many supermarkets will already pay more than minimum wage to employees.

Sales assistant: £9.10

Sales assistant in London: £10.55

The discount supermarket chain was the first supermarket in the UK to pay basic-rate shop floor workers more than minimum wage in 2017.
