Apple is dishing out FREE AirPods to some customers – find out if you’re eligible

Apple has announced the return of its popular summer special, which gives students the chance to grab a free pair of AirPods – worth £159 – with the purchase of select products from the US tech company’s store. New Beats Studio Buds win over Apple AirPods on features and price

After weeks of rumours, Beats has finally revealed their all-new Studio Buds earbuds. These wireless ‘buds, which will go on sale this summer, offer an abundance of features for an incredibly reasonable price. At just £129.99, the latest from Beats are £30 cheaper than the standard Apple AirPods and Google Pixel Buds, to name a few rivals.

Thankfully, that comparatively low cost does not means that Beats has cut back on features. Instead, the Apple-owned audio firm is boasting that its Studio Buds will “deliver a high-quality audio experience.”

That’s mainly due to the 8.2mm dual-element diaphragm driver, which should help boom sound into your ears with the usual bass we’ve come to expect from Beats. And that’s not all as, unlike the basic AirPods, the Studio Buds feature Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) which will block out all background sound around you for an uninterrupted music experience.

For those times when you need to hear some ambient audio, there’s a Transparency mode, which should mean you don’t miss your train or plane when announcements are made over the Tannoy system. With a tap, you’ll be able to block everything out again and get back to your song or podcast.

To boost things further, you’ll get Apple’s clever Spatial Audio technology which makes the sound appear to hit your ears from all directions for a far more immersive experience.

Of course, like all wireless buds, you get a neat pocket-sized charging case that boosts the battery when things run flat. Beats says that you’ll get around 8 hours of playback before they’ll need refilling with the case offering a total of 24-hours of battery life.

There’s also a nice Fast Fuel charge option with a quick 5-minutes in the case offering an hour of music. If you happen to lose them then don’t panic as Beats Studio Buds are the first Beats product to support both Find My in iOS and Find My Device on Android.

Finally, the design should mean they survive the British weather and your trips to the gym with an IPX4 water-resistant rating and, for the first time ever, convenient one-touch pairing comes to both iOS and Android users.

“In building a product this small, every minute detail was considered, analysed and selected to optimise for sound quality, comfort and durability,” said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Beats and Apple Music. “Studio Buds are our tiniest, most subtle form factor to date, yet keep Beats’ promise of delivering an immersive sound experience in a beautiful design.”

Beats Studio Buds will be available in the UK beginning this summer for £129.99 and will be available in three colours, White, Black and Red.

Meet the new Apple AirPods rivals with a clever trick up their sleeve

This post originally appeared on Daily Express :: Tech Feed

Apple has some new AirPods-style rivals to contend with and these gadgets feature something the US firm can’t currently match. Premium audio firm Bowers and Wilkins has just announced the launch of its first wireless earbuds which come with a nifty trick up their sleeve. The all-new PI7 earbuds not only feature impressive sound and adaptive Active Noise Cancellation, which changes depending on where you are using them, but also a clever changing case that will end the nightmare of using AirPods-style buds in places such as planes.
That’s because the neat little smart case can connect to an external audio source – such as an in-flight entertainment system – by 3.5mm or USB cable and then wirelessly retransmit audio from that source to the earbuds. That’s definitely something the AirPods can’t yet match and could be a feature Apple might want to consider in the future.

Other extras coming to the PI7 include Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive wireless transmission which offers high-resolution music transmission from suitable streaming services, such as Qobuz.

There’s also a 4-hour battery life with things instantly boosted back to full once popped back in their charging case and they are fully compatible with the Alexa and Google voice assistants.

They sound pretty impressive but like all of Bowers and Wilkins products, they aren’t cheap.

When they arrive later this year you’ll need £349 in your bank account which is £100 more than the premium AirPods Pro.

If that sounds a bit rich then Bowers and Wilkins is also launching a slightly cheaper version called PI5 which will cost £199.

These earbuds also feature ANC – although it’s not adaptive like the PI7 – and there’s a 4.5-hour battery life plus great sound via a 9.2mm bespoke Dynamic drive unit. A water-resistant design and access to Google and Alexa also feature.

You don’t get the same clever charging case so forget tuning into a movie on a plane but you will have little extra cash in your pocket as they are clearly far cheaper.

Speaking about its new earbuds, Bowers and Wilkins said: “After an extensive period of development, Bowers & Wilkins is proud to launch two new products that bring the brand’s famous True Sound promise of absolute performance to the True Wireless In-Ear Headphone category.

“Both the new PI7and PI5 offer all the sound quality that music lovers have come to expect from a Bowers & Wilkins product, coupled to an extensive array of smart and convenience features, exceptional call quality and beautiful, premium design.”

Use Microsoft Teams every day? You might want to avoid AirPods, Bose for new Surface cans

The Surface Headphones 2 Plus, which are priced at £289.99, also come with a beefy battery life that offers up to 15 hours of voice calling time, even when noise cancellation is turned on.

That will offer you more than enough juice to last you a few days before you need to recharge at the end of a working day. While Microsoft promised the Surface Headphones 2 Plus also offer all-day comfort, so they should seamlessly fit into your working day.

The new Surface Headphones also feature volume and noise cancellation controls as well as touch controls to easily answer and end calls.

Microsoft said the Surface Headphones 2 Plus are “certified for Microsoft Teams” and provide “the best meeting experience”.

Speaking about the new cans, the Windows 10 makers said: ” Empower employees with high-quality Microsoft Teams calls, a rock-solid connection with plug and play functionality, a dedicated Teams button, synchronised call controls to avoid the ‘you’re on mute’, and light states on the included dongle.

“Experience your calls, music, and shows like never before with rich, immersive Omnisonic sound and 13 levels of adjustable noise cancellation. Use the on-ear dials to easily turn up the volume or tune out background noise. Advanced microphones ensure you are heard loud and clear on calls. Enjoy music, podcasts, exceptional call quality, or peace and quiet all day.”
