Ex Hull City player's new romance after split from Alexandra Burke

Former Hull City defender Angus MacDonald appears to be hitting it off with a Love Island star.

MacDonald, 28, faced a difficult time last year when he was shockingly diagnosed with bowel cancer. But he now looks to be getting back to his old self and enjoying going out again.

He and Rachel were seen laughing and smiling, before kissing one and other.

NHS nurse Rachel shot to fame after appearing on the 2016 series of the ITV show and fell for Rykard Jenkins.

It comes just a month after she was spotted on a date with Towie’s James Lock.

And it is the first time Angus has been spotted moving on since his long term relationship with Alexandra Burke.

Brave Angus was told he had bowel cancer last summer and admitted he thought he could die.

But he got the all clear in November after two operations – first to remove his bowel and fit a colostomy bag and another to replace the bowel.

He was dating X Factor star Alexandra, 32, at the time and has since revealed she was a huge support.

He told The Sun: “I hadn’t been with Alex long and, I know it sounds stupid, but I was worried it may affect our relationship. We’d only just passed the dating stage.

“I tried to act as normal as I could but she knew something wasn’t right.”

He said Alex was “devastated” by the news.

Angus was diagnosed with a blood clot in his leg in September 2018, which saw him pull out of playing football for nine months, before the cancer shock was confirmed in August.

Angus is now a patron for Bowel Cancer UK, offering ongoing support to raise awareness of the illness.

He was given the all clear in December of last year, but the pair broke things off in March 2021.

A source confirmed they went their separate ways after becoming too busy with their individual careers.

The singer deleted all trace of her ex from her Instagram account as they called it quits after a difficult first year together.

Alexandra has not been spotted out with a new beau, but will there be a date two for Angus and Rachel?

‘The girl who defies gravity’: Russian skate star Alexandra Trusova reveals she’s big in Japan with best-selling book

Russian figure skating prodigy Alexandra Trusova has thanked her Japanese fans for their love and devotion revealing that her biography has become a bestseller in the land of the rising sun.

The 16-year-old star is in Japan where she is taking part in the World Team Trophy in Figure Skating, and said that the book titled  ‘The girl who defies gravity’ had attracted the attention of Japanese readers, hitting sales records in four different categories including becoming a bestseller in winter sports and children winter sports books.

My dear friends, I am so happy that my book found so many readers. I am particularly happy that my book is a bestseller in Japan – a country which loves figure skating. This is a privilege to me!” Trusova wrote on her social media page.

Trusova produced a bombshell performance at last month’s world championship in Sweden attempting to land a mind-blowing FIVE quads in her free program, a feat which helped her to rise from a low 12th place to a bronze-winning medal position.

The first skater in history to throw a quadruple jump also announced that her official fan club was built up in Japan, a country which worships figure skating.

Last year, the two-time world junior champion Trusova ended her long-term partnership with famed coach Eteri Tutberidze and joined Evgeni Plushenko’s figure skating academy.

The skater has been rumored to have returned to her previous coach, however this information has not been confirmed either by Trusova or Tutberidze.

Figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze tight-lipped on rumors

Revered Russian figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze has given a guarded reaction to reports that world championships sensation Alexandra Trusova could return to her ranks, refusing to confirm rumors about the bronze medalist.

Whispers about the sensation’s return to the Sambo-70 school started circulating in the Russian press after Trusova starred at the World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm last week, finishing only behind teammates Anna Shcherbakova and Elizaveta Tuktamysheva.

The 16-year-old could have taken the title after producing a stunning free-program performance which included a record-breaking FIVE quads, only to be scuppered by a disastrous short routine in which she finished in a lowly 12th place.

The first female skater in history to land a quadruple jump had been trained by Tutberidze for four years, winning two world junior titles and the European bronze under her guidance before switching coaches last May to join Evgeni Plushenko’s academy.

Disappointment with the training process and a lack of attention from the coaching staff were cited among the unofficial reasons for Trusova’s departure.

Back then, the ambitious skater said that her coaches had restricted her jumping potential, refusing to allow her to execute five quads in one program for the sake of stability.

Last week, Trusova attempted to throw five quads in her free program, falling on two jumps.

The risky move helped her to rise to the podium, although she stopped short of claiming the gold medal she had dreamed of.

Talk of her potential return to Tutberidze has resurfaced in light of Trusova’s desire to make the national Olympic team, for which competition will be even more fierce next year.

The fact that the renowned coach previously took back her former skaters, Evgenia Medvedeva and Alena Kostornaia, following high-profile splits has intensified the already-heated debate surrounding the Trusova-Tutberidze partnership.

The principal of Sambo-70, Renat Lyaishev, fueled the rumors by revealing that Trusova’s father, Vyacheslav Trusov, had spoken with him and expressed a willingness to resume training under Tutberidze’s tutelage.

The coach herself didn’t confirm the claim, adding that Lyaishev is not a member of the coaching team and was not in a position to share news about the skater’s return.

Are you serious? How can I comment on her return? Who told you that?” Tutberidze asked.

Lyaishev has nothing in common with the work of our coaching team. Listen, stop asking those questions. No, I don’t confirm anything.”

Tutberidze confirmed her status as the world’s leading female coach after guiding yet another skater to the top of the podium.

Shcherbakova became the third world champion coached by Tutberidze after Evgenia Medvedeva and Alina Zagitova.
