LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, July 15, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that the Transgender Wellness and Equity Fund would be receiving $ 13 million in funding that will provide health care services for transgender, gender non-conforming, and intersex (TGI) people across all of California. Resources include mental health programs, culture-based programs, medical services, as well as supportive housing help specifically for TGI people. This historic announcement is the continuation of the victory that was achieved when AB 2218 was passed in September of 2020.

The [email protected] Coalition, led by Founder and CEO Bamby Salcedo, was instrumental in advocating for the passing of AB2218 last year. Since then, she has been working tirelessly to ensure that not only would the funding come to fruition, but that a precedent would be set for other states and policymakers to follow as well.

“We are so grateful that TGI people will have the resources needed to improve our quality of life. We are privileged to live in a state that has the most inclusive legislation to support the livelihood of trans people. It is through intentional investment in the lives of TGI people through this budget allocation that collectively we are going to improve the lives of all TGI Californians,” said Bamby Salcedo, Chief Executive Officer at [email protected] Coalition.
“I’m so proud of this community vision becoming a reality. This budget allocation shows that when we let TGI people lead, great things can happen. I look forward to working to get these funds to our people here on the ground!” said Michaé De La Cuadra, Manager of Policy and Community Engagement at Tra[email protected] Coalition.

Forget headphones! Sony just announced a new speaker that you WEAR

Forget headphones! Sony just announced a new speaker that you WEAR

If you hate wearing headphones, Sony might have the perfect – if not, the whackiest – solution. The Japanese technology firm has announced the launch of its new SRS-NB10 speaker, which users actually wear. Yes, you did read that correctly. This clever device pops on your shoulders and blasts music straight into your ears.

If you’re worried about how that might sound, Sony is confident you’ll be left impressed as it has packed a full-range speaker unit that’s angled upwards so the audio is optimised for your ears alone.

There’s also some decent bass and the tech company is boasting that things should still sound good even when volumes are low.

Along with booming out your favourite playlists, the SRS-NB10 has been designed to connect to two devices at the same time meaning you can easily switch from a music player to your laptop. That should mean your next zoom call can be heard loud clear. Another bonus is that people on the other end of the line should also be able to hear you thanks to Precise Voice Pickup Technology.

This uses two high-quality directional (beam-forming) microphones, combined with advanced audio signal processing to minimises feedback and any annoying echoes.

Clearly, you won’t want this wearable speaker to be plugged into a wall so Sony has packed a battery inside that lasts for a whopping 20 hours.

It’s also IPX4 splash-proof. That doesn’t mean you can wear it in the shower but should be fine if it gets a bit wet when doing the washing up. Finally, to make sure it stays comfy you’ll find it covered in fabric and there’s a white or charcoal grey to match your style.

If the whole concept of wearing a speaker around your neck doesn’t sound totally bonkers, you’ll be able to pick up the Sony SRS-NB10 from September 2021 for approximately €150 (around £130).

Quarantine-free holidays for Brits to these countries to be announced TOMORROW - full list

The Prime Minister announced new COVID-19 guidance coming into place on July 19, including social distancing or the use of face covering is no longer required.

He also announced double vaccinated Britons arriving from amber list countries may not need to follow a 10 day quarantine.

“Will work with the travel industry towards removing the need for fully vaccinated arrivals to self isolate on return from an amber country,” he said.

These countries currently include holiday hotspots like Spain, Portugal, Greece or Italy.
