The anti-vaxxer, from Glasgow, made an eye-opening statement on her business Instagram page: “We will not treat anyone who has had a COVID-19 jab.” Sarah McCutcheon explained why she made this decision. “Many of my loyal, long-term clients follow a very natural path,” Sarah said. “And I want to ensure they feel safe in the environment that they come to relax in.”
Meanwhile, research conducted by Public Health England (PHE) demonstrated that the Covid jabs are effective against hospitalisation and deaths.
Two jabs of the Pfizer vaccine is 96 percent effective against hospitalisation from the Covid delta variant – the most dominant strain in the UK.
In addition, the AstraZeneca vaccine is 92 percent effective against hospitalisation.
Research published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) found that the Pfizer and AstraZeneca jabs were associated with:
As with any type of vaccine, side effects are possible, but not everybody gets them.
“Most side effects are mild and should not last longer than a week,” the NHS said.
Common complaints include:
“You may also get a high temperature or feel hot or shivery one or two days after your vaccination,” added the NHS.
More than 45 million people in the UK have now had their first Covid jab, the Government report shows.
The number of people who have had their second jab is creeping up towards 35 million.
The success of the vaccine programme has weakened the link between the number of Covid cases and the number of hospitalisations and deaths.
While the virus is infecting more people once again, the number of patients admitted to hospital and people now dying of Covid is not skyrocketing as it would if people were not vaccinated.
After the tedium of a long drive, the sight of the Gower Peninsula in West Wales instantly eradicates any feelings of tiredness and you want to embrace the panoramic scenery. We had switched from the M4 to the coastal road approaching Swansea, and stopped at the seaside city – dramatically transformed in recent years – before winding our way to the Oxwich Bay Hotel and its incredible beach views.
We’ve visited the hotel on several occasions, lured by excellent surfing conditions for our teenagers, and fabulous coastal walks for us – never disappointing, whatever the weather.
We stayed in the hotel’s Secret Garden, housing six modern accommodation pods. They are small but comfortable, and an enjoyable alternative to traditional hotel accommodation. The staff worked wonders to keep them spotlessly clean – no mean feat after we returned somewhat grubby after a day in the great outdoors.
The hotel itself, a former rectory, prides itself on offering a warm Welsh welcome and tasty food using locally sourced ingredients. To set you up for the day I’d recommend the Welsh full breakfast with laverbread, a traditional delicacy made from seaweed.
You’ll certainly need your energy for surfing on the amazing Rhossili Bay. Our instructor, Guy Richards, has a friendly and easy-going manner that is perfect for beginners. And if you’re less than agile on the waves there are always the views to admire.
After a morning of strenuous activity, we had an excellent lunch at The Bay on top of Rhossili cliffs.
In the afternoon, we explored the endless expanse of coastal paths.
Part of the appeal of this rugged coastline is that you can easily avoid the crowds. We took a stroll to the rocky promontory known as Worm’s Head, where poet Dylan Thomas was once stranded when he misjudged the tides.
Two of his short stories, Extraordinary Little Cough and Who Do You Wish Was With Us? were inspired by his love of this “very beautiful peninsula, some miles from the blowsy town and so far the tea-shop philistines have not spoilt the most beautiful of its bays”.
The “dry spiked bushes” of gorse and “its spring board grass, monstrous thick grass that made us spring heeled” that he described can still be experienced in all their magnificence thanks to the National Trust, which has fiercely protected the natural beauty of this special spot.
Thomas’s stay on Worm’s Head moved him to write: “Why don’t we live here always? Always and always. Build a bloody house and live like bloody kings”, before adding laconically: “It’s too wild for a townee.”
Thankfully, our evening meal at the Beach House was only a short stroll away. Welsh TV chef Hywel Griffith opened the restaurant five years ago. The proud holder of a Michelin Star, his food is spectacular. It is worth a visit for the bread and butter alone.
But you can’t visit Wales and not eat the lamb – it was sublime. We savoured every mouthful in the contemporary interior before drinking the last of our wine on the terrace with its fabulous views across Oxwich and Three Cliffs.
The following morning, a crystal-blue sky was the perfect backdrop to take in the spectacular Three Cliffs Bay beach, a mix of sand dunes, salt marsh, and the three limestone cliffs.Mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins is a fan of the area, saying: “I grew up on the edge of the Gower, but it was still a holiday place for our family. We’d go on weekend breaks to Three Cliffs Bay – six miles down the road!
“That’s how gorgeous it is. It still takes my breath away.”
No one admiring the view from the ruined 12th-century Norman Pennard Castle could possibly disagree.
We stopped off at another Gower institution, the Pennard Stores, serving local delicacies from seaweed caviar and oysters to delicious cakes.
Our short weekend visit to Gower and Wales will be repeated, and often. It is one of the world’s most beautiful locations. So avoid the uncertainty of overseas travel with a staycation here – you won’t be disappointed.

Cemlyn and Llanrhwydrus circular walk, Anglesey
The route: From Bryn Aber car park, walk past the monument towards the headland. Turn left through the kissing gate and either follow the coastal path or walk along the beach. You might see grey seals hauled up on Craig yr Iwrch. If you have time, make a detour to Llanrhwydrus Church.
At Henborth Bay look for the Henborth Drumlin rock formation that looks like a beached whale. Turn left through the gate towards Hen Felin (Old Mill) and cross the bridge.
Turn left onto the lane and walk back towards Cemlyn Bay and the nature reserve. After passing Fronddu, turn left. This takes you past the Cemlyn Lagoon, then follow the lane back over the causeway.
Giant’s Causeway trail, Co Antrim
The route: Facing the entrance of the Causeway Hotel, head right toward the Visitor Centre. Providing no conservation work is in progress you can cut across the roof and
pick up signs for the Red Trail from the rear.
There’s a wooden plinth with a map and directions. Continue along the path and up a steep hill to Weir Snout viewpoint. Rejoin the trail and you’ll arrive on top, but inland from, the headland known as the Aird. Boulders act as a deterrent to people walking out onto this headland. This area is spectacular but extremely dangerous. It’s not fenced off so be cautious.
At this point along the path, you’ll come to the top of the Shepherd’s Steps. Onwards, the path becomes the Yellow Trail and leads to Hamilton’s Seat. To follow the Red Trail, descend the steps from the clifftop. You can then choose to follow the trail towards the Organ, or turn left and head towards the Grand Causeway, linking to the Blue Trail.
Giants Causeway basalt columns on the northeast Irish coast in Northern Ireland
Staffa puffin trail, Isle of Mull
The route: Most visitors to the uninhabited island of Staffa arrive on tour boats and have one hour ashore. To see the magnificent basalt columns of An Uamh Binn (Musical Cave) – more commonly known as Fingal’s Cave – turn left from the jetty and head along the rock surface below the cliffs using the handrail.
To reach the puffin colony, go up from the jetty via the ladders. Turn right along the path parallel to the cliff-tops, leading through a gully using newly-installed stone steps, and back up the other side.
In 10 minutes you’ll reach a semicircular bay below a small green hill, where burrows are nestled in the grass around the edge of the cliffs. Sit patiently and the puffins will come to you. The presence of humans helps scare the larger predatory birds away.
The Isle of Mull is famous for its musical cave and puffins
Teign Gorge views walk, Devon
The route: From Castle Drogo’s main car park, follow the signs for Teign Valley Walks, turning right. Head down through the trees then turn left over the open common.
Follow the yellow-arrowed route through a gate and along Gorse Blossom Walk path. Take the right-hand path to descend onto Hunters Path, which leads back to the castle. Admire the view from Sharp Tor, looking towards Dartmoor. Continue round the hill, taking the second flight of steps.
At the top, go through a gate then left up more steps. There is a bench for a rest if needed. Continue ahead until you reach the castle drive.
Stargazing walk at Friars Crag, Keswick
The route: From Lakeside car park walk down towards the Theatre by the Lake, which will be on your left. Walk along the road with the launch jetties and lake on your right, then continue straight on, along an unsurfaced track to the end of Friars Crag. This is your nighttime spot to see thousands of sparkling stars.
Take a walk around Friars Crag at night and enjoy the starlit sky
The Rock House trail, Kinver, south Staffs
The route: At Compton Road notice board, turn right across the sandy area and take the uphill path into the woods, marked with a purple arrow.
Follow markers over the crossroads and past the play areas. At the five-ways, follow the arrow to Nanny’s Rock, where there is a descent.
Re-enter the National Trust boundary and walk along the top of the Edge. Beyond the fence on your right is an area of heathland restoration. Pass into the more mature heath, following a sandy track. As you approach the Warden’s Lodge, cross the grassland and head down into the woods at the war memorial.
Continue down to approach the Rock Houses, then back to the car park, which is signed from the Rock House tea-rooms.

On May 12, 2021, a new TikTok video highlighted one of the smaller, hidden touches in Disney’s oldest park. It showed a secret tree in Disneyland Park that had two sets of initials carved into it: “P.P.” for Peter Pan and “W.D.” for Wendy Darling.
The video was posted by @thedavidvaughn:
A Disneyland secret spot with Peter Pan and Wendy’s hidden tree #disneyland #peterpan #disneylandsecrets
In the video, Vaughn described how to find the tree in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle:
Do you know about Peter Pan and Wendy’s secret tree in Disneyland? If you go to the right of the castle, cross the little bridge, you’ll see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the distance.
Pass the wishing well and carefully head up these stairs. And if you round the corner you’ll find the secret spot of Wendy and Peter’s initials. Have you noticed this before?
According to mousewait.com, the arrow on the tree pointed in the direction of Peter Pan’s Flight, a ride that’s located steps away in Fantasyland.
The comment on the TikTok video with the most likes expressed surprise that the Snow White Grotto and wishing well even existed. Commenter @athena.k.04 said: “I didn’t even know there was a wishing well or Snow White at all.”
Snow White Grotto is perhaps one of the more peaceful and quiet areas of the entire park, with light foot traffic and several benches for seating.
Another commenter, @juliechurton, remarked: “Then wouldn’t that mean it’s the secret entrance to the Lost Boys den???” This referred to Hangman’s Tree, part of the story of the 1953 Disney animated classic, “Peter Pan.”
“For the first time in forever!! A new Disney secret I didn’t know about!,” said @iheartdsny.
Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure both recently reopened following a closure that lasted more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Guests are now asked to wear masks and practice social distancing when entering the parks.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the reopening was initially set at 25% capacity. This led to lighter crowds, meaning wait times for rides were drastically reduced when compared to pre-COVID days.
While there are too many so-called hidden treasures, or “Easter eggs,” to highlight all at once in the park, we’ve covered quite a few of them in the past.
As for the secret tree with Peter and Wendy’s initials carved into the side, Disney park-goers can make a reservation and head inside to see it for themselves.

Ex-UFC beauty Rachael Ostovich joins Russian star Ekaterina Makarova in Bare Knuckle FC move – setting up Paige VanZant rematch.
UFC fighters and social media sensations Paige VanZant and Rachael Ostovich could fight each other again in a bare knuckle match after Ostovich followed her old rival into the sport, joined by Russian brawler Ekaterina Makarova.
MMA pin-up Ostovich is set to fight for the first time since November, when she lost her third straight UFC scrap, after becoming the newest signing for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), which made VanZant its best-known star when she joined the promotion last year.
Ostovich joined BKFC shortly after it also signed Ekaterina Makarova, an undefeated Moscow fighter who previously appeared for Russian promotion Top Dog and is expected to make her debut in June.
The development means that beauty brand owner Ostovich could rematch VanZant, the former rival she lost to in January 2019, which turned out to be VanZant’s final win in the UFC.
That was also VanZant’s most recent MMA victory following her points defeat to ex-boxer Britain Hart on her BKFC debut in February, although the newcomer and the promotion appeared keen to continue their apparently productive early relationship despite her unsuccessful start.
Signing the trio of popular female fighters appears to be a marketing dream for BKFC and a way of appealing to new audiences, with VanZant having more than 2.8 million followers on Instagram, where Ostovich boasts more than 743,000 admirers.
Featherweight Makarova, 24, does not quite have the pair’s stratospheric profile at this stage but is clearly a rising star and has signed an “exclusive promotional deal”.
“We are keeping a close eye on a lot of talent developing in Russia and looking to bring the best to BKFC,” said Dave Feldman, the promotion president, announcing the move.
“Ekaterina is just that: one very tough lady who has tremendous ability and is as strong and skilled as they come. This marks our second signing from Russia in as many months as she joins Evgeniy Kurdanov who joined our team in March.”
When male light-heavyweight Kurdanov signed up, Feldman pointed to the “huge” appeal held by BKFC in Russia, which the promotion hopes to tap into.
Another experienced fighter to have joined BKFC in the past week is Pearl Gonzalez, the 34-year-old former UFC and Invicta FC strawweight.
“I made the biggest sacrifice of my life, packed up everything and moved to Brooklyn, New York permanently to train with the greatest female boxer in the world,” revealed Gonzalez to her vast Instagram following of almost 240,000, explaining that she was joining a training facility part-run by legendary female boxer Cindy Serrano.
“I promise to dedicate my life to becoming the next BKFC world champ and couldn’t be happier to start this new chapter in my life.”

Before his Disney appearance Luke played Dracula in Dracula Untold and the powerful Bard in Lord of the Rings’ The Hobbit prequels.
The actor, who is also a well-regarded singer, became a mainstay in multi-billion-dollar franchise Fast and the Furious as Owen Shaw, the younger brother of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham).
Speaking to The Mirror about wanting to take on the iconic role of Bond the 42-year-old said: “I think I’ve cut my teeth very well in movies I’ve done and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. It’s a phenomenal job, a phenomenal franchise, an incredible role.”
“It’s a very secretive process and it’s a wonderful role. I would jump at the chance, as would many actors in my position, so we shall see.
“It will be an exciting casting moment for the Bond production and I wish whoever gets it the best of luck.”
However, if he were to get the role, Luke would have to make some sacrifices.
The bookies’ Alex Apati commented: “Luke Evans has thrown his hat into the ring to play Bond next and while he’s still considered something of an outsider, his odds have tumbled substantially from 50/1 to just 22/1 in the last two days.”
Although Luke’s new odds are great for him, he is still nowhere near the top of the leaderboard.
Close behind is James Norton, who has an impressive 4/1.
DC Comics star Henry Cavill is the next in line with 8/1, although his chances have been dwindling slowly over the last few months.
James Bond No Time To Die is due for release on September 30, 2021.
Beauty and the Beast is available to watch on Disney Plus now.
