Chivalry 2 Developers Share Their Favorite Map

Huzzah! It’s Chivalry 2 launch day everybody! We’re so excited for players to hop into the full release of our game for the first time. The teams at Torn Banner and Tripwire Presents have been hard at work making one of the best melee combat games ever, and now it’s time to show it to the world!

One of the true labors of love while making this game has been our sandbox approach to map design. Each map is packed with environmental features that make them feel lively. Lurking around every corner is something hilarious, insightful, or downright grotesque.

Since we can barely contain our excitement about this release, we took the time to ask a few members of our team to talk a bit about their favorite map and why. Read on to see the dev team’s picks!

Chivalry 2

The Fall of Lionspire

“The Fall of Lionspire has some awesome, highly memorable moments for me already; making a formation of shields with your allies as you crush your way through the narrow city streets, while arrows and ballista bolts fly over your head… and then the awesome carnage that ensues on the penultimate bridge “tug of war” phase. At the end of the map, whether you’re on the winning or losing side, getting your body blown to bits and ragdolled high in the air when the trebuchets explode. It’s the ultimate release!” – Steve Piggott, President, Torn Banner Studios

The Siege of Rudhelm

“The Siege of Rudhelm is my personal favourite. It’s a map where, when our team was quite early on in development, the game truly clicked together and felt like a realization of all our goals. Our ambition was to make a medieval multiplayer experience that felt on the same dramatic scale as epic Hollywood movie battles. Rudhelm’s opening siege and ensuing street fights through the city are a constant thrill, and really nail the gritty yet cinematic tone of the game.” – Rasmus Löfström, Chivalry 2 Game Director, Torn Banner Studios

Chivalry 2

“My favorite map would have to be The Siege of Rudhelm. I love how the map opens with the attackers pushing giant siege towers up to the castle walls while fending off oncoming attackers. Additionally, standing at the top of the siege tower waiting for enemies to climb up, only to give them a kick to the face knocking them down from high, is extremely satisfying! The map ends by capturing the inner courtyard and venturing into a massive interior keep where you have up to 64 players all trying to kill the Heir. It’s complete mayhem and it’s amazing!” – Mike Stone, Producer, Tripwire Presents

“While I enjoy all the Chivalry 2 maps for different reasons with their varied gameplay, objectives, items, and traps, I know I’ll probably get some grief for my favorite pick: The Siege of Rudhelm. I love the flow and progression of this map from the siege of the city wall and the fight all the way to the keep, but the reason Rudhelm stands atop the rest are those walls and their trap doors. It just makes me giggle every time, no matter what team is standing on them (especially if I am at the lever – everybody gets dropped)!” – Jared Creasy, Community Manager, Tripwire Presents

Chivalry 2

The Slaughter of Coxwell

“The Slaughter of Coxwell is my favorite map! It’s this tranquil, pastoral setting of a farmland village… that quickly descends into the gnarly chaos of Chivalry 2. Like other Team Objective maps, it gets into a proper immersive story told with its various phases. The map has an incredible interplay between clever narrative building and the overall flow of the multiplayer match. Playing as the Agathian peasants and successfully thwarting the Mason attackers in the final moments of Coxwell truly feels like a cinematic underdog story of its very own and is one of the shining examples of the narrative depth that sets Chivalry 2 apart from other multiplayer games!” – Alex Hayter, Brand Director, Torn Banner Studios

Chivalry 2 is available now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Chivalry 2 release date: What time does Chivalry 2 come out on PS4 and Xbox?

Everyone waiting for the Chivalry 2 release time have been given the full launch schedule by developers Torn Banner Studios.

The good news is that Chivalry 2 will be playable across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and the Epic Games Store in June.

And the best of this launch is that there will be no platform having to wait longer than others on release day.

It’s unclear if this will mean issues could arise with playing on live servers, but it should provide everyone with a level playing field.

For anyone raring to go, the final version of Chivalry 2 can be preloaded before the game is available to play.

On PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, the Chivalry 2 pre-load is available now and will remain available until launch.

However, on PC (via the Epic Games Store), preloads will open at 10:30am ET on June 8.

WHAT IS THE CHIVALRY 2 RELEASE TIME ON PS4 AND XBXO ONE?

Developers Torn Banner Studios have confirmed that the Chivalry 2 release date and time has been set for Tuesday, June 8, at 4pm BST.

The full message from the development team confirms: “Chivalry 2 will be available to play at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST / 5pm CEST on June 8, 2021 on all platforms.”

For anyone wondering, the full version of Chivalry 2 will be available after 4pm BST but it will not include past progression.

That means even if you unlocked a number of different weapons and class items, including cosmetics, you will need to do it all over again later this week.

There will also be a next-gen version of Chivalry 2 available to those with PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

The next-gen version comes with 4K UHD support, Capped 60 FPS and “uncapped framerate” modes, Enabled Ray Tracing, but caps FPS at 30FPS, DualSense Controller Haptics (PS5 only).

Chivalry 2 performs in locked 30 FPS on the previous-gen consoles. Ray Tracing support will not be available for these consoles.

And here’s a list of other features that will be available in the full version of Chivalry 2 when it arrives on June 8:

Massive scale: 64 players in sprawling, multi-stage Team Objective maps, complete with epic castle sieges, forest ambushes and good old medieval pillaging.

Revamped Combat System: All new combat moves, a weighty and physical animation system and new, faster and more natural combat flow re-establish the Chivalry franchise as the best melee combat system ever made.

Expanded sandbox: Battlefields are littered with things to interact with. Grab a chicken, set it on fire and throw it; improvise a new fighting style with pitchforks – or cabbages!

Enhanced player expression: What fun is stabbing without screaming? All new over the top characters and thousands of voice lines along with deep character customization provide incredible options for player creativity and roleplaying.

Battered and bloodied: Keep fighting with missing limbs or even if downed and gasping your last breath. Chivalry 2 is about the feeling of survival against the odds and – if you do go down – the opportunity to make it a glorious death.

Offline practice: launch any map and game mode and jump in with bots to practice by yourself.

Chivalry 2 beta end time confirmed – Will Chivalry 2 Open Beta progress carry over?

The Chivalry 2 open beta has proven popular with gamers but will soon come to an end so that the development team can focus on the game’s final release.

As previously confirmed by the team, Chivalry 2 will be released on June 8 across PS4, Xbox One and PC.

There is also a next-gen version of Chivalry 2 being released for PS5 and Xbox Series X, which will come with 4k resolution, 60FPS, and more advanced graphic features.

For those who might not have jumped into the beta yet, Chivalry 2 is a first-person slasher that pits two warring factions against each other.

Most maps and modes come with objectives that need to be completed before a counter runs out.

This can mean capturing points on the map, or destroying key areas. Attackers are focused on this, while the defending team tries to halt the progress required.

In Chivalry 2 you’ll play as the Agatha Knights or the Mason Order: two factions with radically different views on how to rule the kingdom, and who should sit on the throne.

The story is pretty secondary to the combat, with gamers creating their own narratives and rivalries on pitched battlefields.

The only downside to all this fun is that the Chivalry 2 open beta will be ending very soon to make way for the full experience.

WHAT IS THE CHIVALRY 2 OPEN BETA END TIME?

Developers Torn Banner Studios has confirmed that the Chivalry 2 Open Beta end time has been set for 4pm BST on Tuesday, June 1.

The Beta is scheduled to run until June 1 at 11am ET in North America, meaning there is still plenty of time to jump in and start playing.

It should be noted that when the beta was first announced, Torn Banner said that you would not need an active PlayStation Plus subscription to participate.

However, with the launch of the Beta, this was quickly determined not to be working, and on an active investigation, a cause has been found.

This means you will need to have an active PS Plus account if you want to play on PS4 or PlayStation 5 consoles.

WILL CHIVALRY 2 OPEN BETA PROGRESS CARRY OVER?

If you have managed to jump up the rankings and have unlocked your favourite weapons and armour, we have some bad news for you.

The official Chivalry 2 Open Beta site confirms that all progress will be reset before the game is released on June 8.

This means you will not get to complete any of the stuff you have received, although there could be pre-order rewards released for the game’s launch.

Pre-order Bonuses are available in the beta. However, Special Edition bonuses will not be available in the beta but will be granted upon the full game launch on June 8th.

It should also be noted that this week’s Chivalry 2 open beta is free to download and play, with no pre-order required.

Cross-Play is active, but teaming up with other players on different platforms might not be available until sometime after launch.

A new message from Torn Banner Studios explains: “Cross-platform, and cross-generation parties (PC to PS5, PS4 to PS5, etc.) and a server browser for console platforms are under active investigation without a timeline at this moment, but we know these features are important and hear your feedback.

“During the Open Beta, cross-generation parties are available on Xbox platforms (Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S). PlayStation users cannot form cross-generation parties; however, PlayStation users on PS5 can download the PS4 Open Beta to form parties with PS4 friends.”

Developers Torn Banner Studios have confirmed its full schedule for this week’s Chivalry 2 open beta.

The good news is that everyone on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X can join in on the action, with no pre-order required.

The open beta is also going to be available for a nice amount of time, meaning everyone should have the chance to download and play.

It should be noted that PlayStation users will be able to access the Open Beta for free, without a PlayStation Plus subscription required.

However, Xbox users will require an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play the Open Beta.

We also know the Chivalry 2 open beta release time, including when the test will end on all platforms.

Torn Banner has also gone into details regarding what will be playable during the next round of testing.

Chivalry 2 has already had a closed beta session, but more is being planned for the coming week.

This will include new team objective matches, as well as fresh deathmatch options and customisation features.

WHEN IS THE CHIVALRY 2 OPEN BETA RELEASE DATE?

This will be a unified launch, meaning all platforms will get access at the same time across PS4, Xbox and PC.

“The Cross-Play Open Beta will be the final playable test for Chivalry 2 before its June 8, 2021 global release date.”

THE CHIVALRY 2 OPEN BETA SCHEDULE

As mentioned above, This week’s Chivalry 2 open beta will be a cross-play event and will also contain the following new content:

The Slaughter of Coxwell (New Team Objective Map): The Mason Order seeks to make a brutal example of the peaceful village of Coxwell after it declared support for Argon II. Burn the village, breach the gate, steal the gold, and kill the soldiers.

The Battle of Darkforest (New Team Objective Map): Agathian forces lie in wait, ready to ambush the Mason army that marches forth to kill the Duke of Fogbern Keep. Destroy the barricade, push the convoy, capture and hold the gatehouse, and kill the Duke.

The Siege of Rudhelm (Team Objective Map): After weeks of siege, Agathian forces begin a final assault upon a Mason stronghold defended by the Mason heir. Push the siege towers, capture and hold the gatehouse, burn the tents, push the siege ramps, capture and hold the courtyard, and take down the heir to achieve victory.

The Battle of Wardenglade (Team Deathmatch/FFA Map): The armies of the Mason Order and Agathian Knights meet in an evenly matched open field of battle.

Tournament Grounds (Team Deathmatch/FFA Map): Elite warriors of the Mason Order and the Agathian Knights fight for supremacy and adoration of the crowd.

Free-for-All (New for Open Beta): It’s you versus everyone else in this chaotic free-for-all gamemode appearing for the first time in the Cross-Play Open Beta.

Full Customization (New for Open Beta): Customize your in-game appearance and unlock a wide variety of cosmetic options as you earn experience with each of the game’s four base classes and 12 sub-classes.

Duel Servers (New for Open Beta): Available for PC only, players can choose to enter special servers set up for players looking to hone their 1-on-1 dueling skills with other players. Participants are asked to abide by the honor system and respect players aiming to focus on 1-on-1 duels.

Chivalry 2 beta dates, start time and how to get a code for PS5, PS4, Xbox One and PC

Author:
This post originally appeared on Daily Express :: Gaming Feed

The Chivalry 2 beta weekend is about to begin on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC.

The medieval multiplayer game’s beta weekend has an April 23 release date, and a 3.30pm BST launch time on all platforms.

The Chivalry 2 beta ends during the early hours of April 27 for fans living in the UK.

Sadly, however, this is a closed beta, which means only a select few fans will have the opportunity to play.

If you want to get a code for the Chivalry 2 closed beta, you’ll need to pre-order the game from a digital storefront.

“All digital pre-orders for both console and PC include guaranteed access to the Cross-Play Closed Beta,” reads an official FAQ.

“On all platforms, the Closed Beta will be available if you pre-order before or during the Closed Beta weekend. After pre-ordering, as of April 23 at 10:30am ET just find the Beta on your platform and download it immediately, no key required!”

Another drawback is that the Chivalry 2 beta can’t be pre-loaded ahead of schedule. This means you’ll need to wait until 3.30pm to start downloading the game.

It’s unfortunate, because it means some fans will have a longer wait before they can start playing.

This is especially true if your broadband speed isn’t the quickest, or if you’re unable to start downloading until later in the day.

On the plus side, however, the Chivalry 2 closed beta will support cross-platform play, which should speed up wait times during matchmaking.

With the Chivalry 2 beta about to begin, fans can brush up on their combat skills by watching a new tips and tricks video (below).

The video reveals how to parry incoming strikes, how to block, and how to counter. Better players will also utilise melee attacks to break their opponent’s blocking stance.

If you’ve played something like Mordhau on PC, then you should be pretty familiar with how Chivalry 2 works.

The game’s brawls take place on huge medieval battlefields, where players must storm castles, fire off weapons and more.

“Chivalry 2 is a multiplayer first person slasher inspired by epic medieval movie battles,” reads the official description.

“Players are thrust into the action of every iconic moment of the era – from clashing swords, to storms of flaming arrows, to sprawling castle sieges and more.”

  2. Force your foes’ heavy attacks to miss by strafing or backpedaling, then strike quickly as your enemy recovers.
  3. Time your attacks well! You are vulnerable during the recovery phase of attacks and cannot attack or parry.
  4. Only shields can block arrows or bolts. They’ll even block them when your shield is unequipped and on your back if you’re clever enough.
