England dealt Dean Henderson blow as Man Utd star withdraws from Euro 2020 through injury

Dean Henderson has been forced to withdraw from England’s squad for Euro 2020 after suffering a hip injury. The Manchester United goalkeeper has been replaced by Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for the tournament.

Henderson was an unused substitute for England’s 1-0 win over Croatia at Wembley on Sunday and missed the squad’s subsequent training session on Monday.

England announced on Tuesday that they had decided to call up Ramsdale because Henderson’s injury would ‘continue to limit his involvement in training throughout the tournament.’

The 24-year-old goalkeeper will return to United for further assessment and rehabilitation ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Under UEFA rules, teams are allowed to replace goalkeepers because of injury at any point in the tournament and Ramsdale will join the squad at their St George’s Park training base after undergoing COVID-19 protocols.

Speaking before Henderson’s withdrawal, United legend Rio Ferdinand expressed a belief the goalkeeper ‘still had a lot of work to do’.

“I think Dean Henderson has a lot to do still,” he said.

“He’s got to cement as his place as United’s No.1 before becoming England’s No.1.”

He then added: “He’s in the mix. I think that’s what he would have wanted. He was at Sheffield United last year, done remarkably well there.

“He’s come back to United and he’s pushing a goalkeeper who, for the last eight, nine years, has been one of the best goalkeepers around.

“For Dean Henderson just to be pushing him I think he’s done well.”

Dean Henderson admission made by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Burnley display

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been given “a wake-up call” following a below-par display against Burnley.

Henderson has usurped David de Gea as United’s first choice goalkeeper in Premier League matches, starting each of the last six matches in the division.

The 24-year-old has conceded just three goals in that run and has generally impressed with his strong command of his area and shot-stopping skills.

However, the England international gave an erratic display against the Clarets on Sunday; he was caught in no man’s land after just 20 seconds when Chris Wood converted a cross – which was disallowed for offside – and conceded from James Tarkowski’s header from a corner five minutes after the break.

The Red Devils ran out 3-1 victors thanks to a Mason Greenwood double and late Edinson Cavani strike, but boss Solskjaer admitted that his young goalkeeper was still learning and developing.

“The first one is a wake-up call for him, he’s a proactive keeper and luckily he was offside so another win and Dean is still learning and maturing,” Solskjaer admitted.

“You never know [against Burnley], anything can happen in either box. Any time they get a cross in with their quality you’ve got your heart in your mouth.

“We built some pressure, especially down the left, wanted to do the right things and we got the goals we wanted.”

Henderson had starred over the previous two seasons on loan at Sheffield United before returning to Old Trafford this summer and earning a new long-term contract.

The United youth graduate had spent most of the campaign as deputy to De Gea – 13 of Henderson’s 21 starts have come in cup competitions – but the Spaniard’s form has led to Henderson being afforded an extended run in the team.

Tori Spelling, 47, Rocks Red Bikini While In Palm Springs With Husband Dean McDermott & Their 5 Kids

Tori Spelling, 47, Rocks Red Bikini While In Palm Springs With Husband Dean McDermott & Their 5 Kids

Tori Spelling took to Instagram to share a cute video of her and her 12-year-old daughter Stella having fun as they rocked the same bikini in different colors.

Tori Spelling[1], 47, showed off her figure during a family outing in Palm Springs, CA and appeared to be having a blast. The actress wore a red bikini that had one strap during the thrilling vacation and had her blonde locks in two braids as she was photographed walking alongside her husband Dean McDermott[2], 54, and their five kids[3], Liam, 14, Stella, 12, Hattie, 9, Finn, 8, and Beau, 4. They were all hanging out by the pool at the Westin Mission Hills resort in Rancho Mirage and appeared to have a great time while soaking up the sun.

Tori took to Instagram on Apr. 11 to share a funny video of her and her daughter Stella[4] sharing an entertaining moment. In the clip, the doting mom walks up to her mini-me, who was in a pink swimsuit, and talks about how they’re “twinning” because they’re wearing matching bikinis. Stella then gives a mortified look to the camera and pretends to scream before Tori then looks around and runs.

“You’re wonderful,” one of Tori’s followers responded to the cheeky video. “That’s awesome,” a second wrote while a third called the clip “hilarious.” Many more shared laughing emojis.

Before Tori’s latest vacation and video, she got attention for joking that she was pregnant with her sixth child on April Fool’s Day. After posting a photo of herself holding her stomach with the caption, “No. 6”, she later revealed she wasn’t pregnant and even though she received backlash for the joke, she admitted she did it because she wanted to “turn tables” on the press, who “create wild and hurtful stories” about her and her body.

“Every week press and magazine outlets ask if I’m pregnant. To set the record straight, I am not. The fact is, after my fifth baby, my body didn’t bounce back like it had before. That’s when the constant questions of ‘yet another’ pregnancy first began,” she wrote in an Instagram message[5]. “Unless you’re in the public eye, it’s hard to understand what it feels like to be body shamed so publicly.”

“My post was simply to turn the tables on for once on the press. They constantly create wild and often hurtful stories about me, my body and my family,” she continued. “For those of you that are hurt, I hear you. I love you. I welcome your stories and I will try my best to be there and support you. Please accept this as a virtual hug to my entire community.”

Dean Smith relieved after Aston Villa finally end unwanted Premier League record

Dean Smith is relieved Aston Villa no longer have the fewest points from losing positions in the Premier League[1] after their Fulham[2] fightback.

Smith’s men ended that sorry statistic by recovering to beat Fulham 3-1 at home on Sunday.

They had previously gained just a single point this term after going behind back in December at Chelsea[3] in a 1-1 draw.

Villa hadn’t come from behind to win previously in the top-flight since January 2020 against Watford[4].

They didn’t look like getting anything against Fulham when Aleksandar Mitrovic put the visitors ahead in the 61st minute.

But Villa hit back to win with a double from sub Trezeguet before Ollie Watkins added a third in a devastating late nine-minute spell.

Now they have retrieved four points , double the amount of Fulham, and the same as Brighton[5], Crystal Palace[6] and Sheffield United.

Asked about Villa’s lack of points after going behind, Smith replied: “It has been mentioned before and was something we had been aware of.

“It is really pleasing and we have done well to change that.

Villa boss Dean Smith was delighted to see his side finally come from behind to win in the Premier League this season

“Normally we keep clean sheets and win football games.

“But we have come from behind for the first time and won a football game.

“I think the only point we gained before that was at Chelsea.”

It was all achieved without talisman Jack Grealish who was due to return against Fulham after six games out with a shin injury.

But the star experienced discomfort in the area again in training on Saturday and pulled out.

It was a big blow for Villa but boss Smith was pleased to see Villa’s other internationals, including England newboy Watkins, step up.

Smith added: “We believe we have a quality squad.

“There is no doubting Jack makes that a lot better with the quality of player he is.

“But Bertrand Traore went away and helped Burkina Faso qualify for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.

Watkins rounded off the comeback against Fulham with Villa’s third

“Ollie scored for England and John McGinn scored three for Scotland.

“We believe we have quality players here, it is just about them showing it on the pitch.”

All of Smith’s substitutes played a big role in the Fulham victory, especially for Villa’s second goal when striker Keinan Davis crossed for fellow sub Trezeguet.

Smith added: “The impact of the subs pleased me most.

“Keinan came on and did really well as did all the subs including Trezeguet with his goals.

“It will give Keinan a big boost.

“He hasn’t had too many minutes on the pitch but I just felt our energy levels had dropped and we needed two upfront.

“That ball for Trez’s second was a superb ball and will give him a big boost of confidence that is for sure.”

Torvill and Dean 'feel like they've been through wars' over Dancing On Ice final challenge

Torvill and Dean 'feel like they've been through wars' over Dancing On Ice final challenge

Meanwhile, reality TV star Billie Shepherd, singer and actress Denise Van Outen and Jason Donovan had to pull out of the series due to injury.

This weekend’s final will see soap star Faye Brookes, Olympian Colin Jackson and radio DJ Sonny Jay go head-to-head to win the series.

Jayne said that it was a shame that Joe had left the contest early as he could have been a contender.

She said: “I think the three in the final are very, very strong, as strong as any we have had before in the past.

“I think the only person missing from that group that could have potentially have been there is Joe-Warren Plant because he was showing really good promise at the beginning and it’s a pity that we didn’t get to see where his journey would end.”

Torvill and Dean branded 'too boring' by documentary bosses due to lack of drama

Torvill and Dean branded 'too boring' by documentary bosses due to lack of drama
Jayne Torvill, 63, and Christopher Dean, 62, or just Torvill and Dean as they are best known, were partnered as skaters in 1975 and have remained close friends ever since – so close, that fans often mistake them for a married couple. But 40 years on their relationship is still the epitome of bliss, to the point where a director once labelled them “too boring” to make a documentary on because there was no drama between them to film.
Addressing whether they argue or have ever argued properly, the pair confessed like any close friends, they’ve had their moments.

And who could blame them, being under intense pressue and in close proximity with each other day in day out while training must become trying at some point, even for the most patient of people!

But luckily those moments don’t come very often, much to the disappointment of a documentary director who wanted some juicy scenes to spice up the program.

Torvill explained: “Once there was a documentary being made about us and the director said, ‘There’s no drama in this, you’re just too nice.’

They pair giggled as Torvill continued to tell The Mirror: “We sound like little angels!

“There were moments of exasperation, but you get more frustrated with yourself than the other person.”

But since their training days, the duo have put their talents to good use as judges on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.

Appearing on the panel since 2018, they were formally coaches who trained the aspiring dancers.

But this year has been somewhat of a disaster, as many of the celebrities taking part have fallen foul to injuries, leading to some pulling out of the competition altogether after bad falls on the ice.

Not only that, but Covid has also wreaked havoc on the casting, with Rufus Hound quitting the series and Joe-Warren Plant withdrawing earlier this month after contracting the disease.

Stars Faye Brooks, Rebekah Vardy and Colin Jackson are among those still left in the competition.

Last week the show was cancelled but ITV confirmed it’s return tonight at 6pm.
