Windows 11 release date just leaked and millions face a long wait to download it

Windows 11 release date just leaked and millions face a long wait to download it

Microsoft’s all-new Windows 10 update was officially revealed last week with this blockbuster upgrade packed full of new features including a refreshed Start Menu that incorporates a system-wide search and applications recommended based on your habits, there’s also a new range of widgets, the ability to run almost any Android app alongside Microsoft applications, and better integration with Microsoft Teams. Although we’ve seen what will be included in Windows 11, Microsoft has stayed pretty tight-lipped about when it will be released with the Redmond firm only saying that it will be at some point this year.

However, although the date fans can download remains a mystery there are some big hints about when it could arrive on PCs.

Firstly, a YouTube video posted by Microsoft shows October 20 as the date on the calendar and there’s another hint that things could be made available around this time.

As spotted by the team at Windows Latest, a recent leak by US retailer Walmart has revealed that it’s getting ready to unleash Windows 11 to customers on October 21, that’s one day later than the date revealed by Microsoft.

The Walmart listing shows that date along with the news that it will be a free upgrade.

This clearly isn’t official confirmation but considering the date from Microsoft’s YouTube clip and Walmart’s website match up it gives a pretty good indication on when to expect Windows 11 to be available.

READ MORE: Why millions of Windows 10 users face a disappointing wait to get Windows 11

Sadly, it seems not everyone will be able to make the switch on that date with Microsoft saying that the rollout of its new operating system will take place in stages. In fact, some might not see the new features until 2022.

Explaining more, Microsoft said: “The upgrade rollout plan is still being finalised, but for most devices already in use today, we expect it to be ready sometime in early 2022. Not all Windows 10 PCs that are eligible to upgrade to Windows 11 will be offered to upgrade at the same time.”

Along with that slow rollout the Redmond firm has also said that there will be certain system requirements.

That’s because this new software needs something called a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chip to work.

Microsoft has confirmed that it will require PCs to have the latest TPM 2.0 installed on them and some older machines may not have that technology.

As Microsoft explains, “Trusted Platform Module (TPM) technology is designed to provide hardware-based, security-related functions. A TPM chip is a secure crypto-processor that is designed to carry out cryptographic operations. The chip includes multiple physical security mechanisms to make it tamper resistant, and malicious software is unable to tamper with the security functions of the TPM.”

PS4 and PlayStation Store: How to Download a brand new game experience today

PS4 and PlayStation Store: How to Download a brand new game experience today

Anyone looking for something new to play this weekend can download a brand new experience on PlayStation consoles.

Those with a PS4 or PS5 console can enjoy the new release of NEO: The World Ends With You.

Releasing on July 27 on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, The World Ends With You is an action RPG developed by Square Enix.

Those interested in trying it out can play the start of the story and advance their characters up to level 15 in preparation for next month.

And there is plenty of combat to test out, with Square Enix confirming this week regarding the new demo launch:

“The streets of Shibuya are full of dangers, and we’re not just talking about the hordes of pedestrians. Rindo and the gang will also have to band together to defeat dangerous enemies called Noise.

“Fortunately, you can customise your team’s play style, equipping each member with an individual pin that gives them access to amazing psychic powers called Psychs. These abilities include all kinds of effects, from launching enemies into the air and attacking them in close combat, to volleying them with projectiles – the way you fight is up to you.”

The good news is that the first NEO experience is now available to download a full month before the full game releases.

Square Enix has also confirmed that the World Ends With You Demo will have cross-save support.

This means that gamers who are preparing to buy the game in July will be able to start collecting items and making progress that will transfer over to the final experience.

“There’s no need for you to worry about restarting the game, losing your pins, or having to level up your team again.

It was just another seemingly ordinary day in Shibuya-but not for Rindo. He could tell something about the city felt different.

He soon finds himself caught in the telekinetic crossfire of a psychic battle unfolding in the Scramble Crossing. And before he can catch his breath, a girl with an ominous aura appears before him and welcomes him to the so-called “Reaper’s Game.”

With some trepidation, Rindo and his friend Fret play along, convincing themselves that a “Game” couldn’t have any serious consequences. It isn’t long, however, until they start having second thoughts.

Rindo’s instinct was right: something about this Shibuya is different.

Xbox: Why you should download these free games before Games with Gold

Xbox: Why you should download these free games before Games with Gold

Microsoft will be announcing its plans for Games with Gold for July 2021 between Monday and Wednesday this coming week.

Included in the announcement will be the four games available to download and play for free next month on Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles.

This is expected to include two games from Xbox One and two games from Xbox 360, with very few Xbox Series X titles, included so far.

This could be seen as a frustrating situation to be in for those with an Xbox Series X hoping to see another next-gen title added to the list.

But with more next-gen upgraded games expected to be announced for Games with Gold over the coming months and years, there’s something worth checking out this weekend.

Gamers can download three titles and play them at no extra charge until Monday at 7:59am BST, if they have a Games with Gold or Xbox Game Pass subscription.

And while many of these titles have been available for some time, gamers should note that one of them boasts an Xbox Series X upgrade.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 was optimised for Xbox Series X late last year and comes with some notable upgrades.

The next-gen makes it possible to play a smoother console experience and includes support for 4K resolution with 60 frames per second.

The full list of games includes Overwatch and Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, although neither has been officially listed as offering Series X upgrades on the Microsoft site.

Descriptions can be found listed below for each of the three games that can be played for free over the next 24-hours:

Overwatch Origins Edition

Challenge your enemies in the ultimate team-based shooter game and take your place in the world of Overwatch for free now through June 27. Choose your hero from a diverse cast of soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities.

Play with friends across Xbox and other platforms with the launch of Cross-Play. Group up now for free and join the limited time in-game event, Ashe’s Deadlock Challenge, to unlock explosive rewards. Keep pushing the payload and purchase Overwatch Legendary Edition for 67% off now through June 28.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is an epic 4-player co-op game set in the Warhammer Fantasy Battle world. Fight together with your friends through waves of hordes and progress through the game to unlock new careers, missions, and weapons.

This entry in the series expands the first-person combat with 15 unique careers, intense challenges in the all-new Heroic Deeds System, and breathtaking new levels set around Helmgart.

Forget the FIFA 22 demo and download the PES 2022 beta now!

Forget the FIFA 22 demo and download the PES 2022 beta now!

With very little fanfare or pomp, Konami has made it possible to start testing out PES 2022 this week.

Available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, the PES 2022 beta demo can be downloaded and played until July 8.

And as you might expect, this testing period is expected to include bugs, gameplay issues and other problems.

But it will also give footy fans their first taste of what PES 2022 will be like to play later this year.

The best part of the new PES beta demo is that you don’t have to sign up for anything or pre-order a future product.

Gamers won’t even need a PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription to enjoy the game online with others, Konami has confirmed.

A message from Konami confirms: “KONAMI is proud to announce that a new football experience is on its way!

To prepare for its launch, we’ll be running an open beta prior to the game’s official launch. The purpose of this beta test is to evaluate the quality of the online matchmaking and connection to the servers.

“Please note that gameplay mechanics, balancing, animations and graphics are all under development and will be improved before the official launch.

“With all that out of the way, we would like to invite you to participate in this open beta, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could share with us your thoughts and feedback on your experience.”

Gamers will need to find the new PES 2022 beta demo on their chosen platform by searching the store.

This means using your console’s official store to find the “New Football Game Online Performance Test” and launch the game.

From what has been shared so far, the test supports cross-gen play between different consoles.

This appears to be limited to Xbox gamers playing with Xbox Series X owners and the same on the PlayStation platform.

There is no word on whether more options will be added before the end date in July but the current playable teams are Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Barcelona.

Commenting on the new beta, Konami posted this new message to fans, revealing: “The chief goal of the New Football Game Online Performance Test is to assess the stability and connection quality of our servers during online matches.

“For more details on the official release and the game itself, keep tuned for our announcement planned for 21/07/2021.

The full rundown of features and options coming with the PES 2022 beta includes the following:

  • Only a limited number of teams are available to play during this test. Each team has a squad of 22 players, chosen according to how many matches they appeared in and total match play time.
  • You do not need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to participate in online multiplayer games for this test.
  • Cross-generation play between PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5 is available.
  • Cross-gen Multiplayer between Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S is available.
  • This game is currently under development, so unexpected errors, such as crashes, may occur.
  • We may need to perform unscheduled maintenance during the test.
  • In order to participate in the test, you must agree to the Terms of Use inside the game.
  • Game data from this test cannot be carried over to the official launch version.
  • You will not be able to play the beta test version of this game once the test period has ended.

Warzone Season 4: New Call of Duty download and Modern Warfare update

Warzone Season 4: New Call of Duty download and Modern Warfare update

UPDATE: Today’s Call of Duty Warzone update will be released at 5am BST, launching COD Season 4 across PS4, Xbox One, PC and next-gen consoles.

However, it should be noted that a new Modern Warfare update is being planned but won’t be launched until next week. More details on these patches can be found below.

ORIGINAL: Developers Raven Software are surprising everyone with a special download for Call of Duty Warzone and COD Modern Warfare.

Modern Warfare proved very popular with fans when it launched back in 2019 but no longer receives substantial updates.

These are now mostly reserved for Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War, which have been integrated to form a united player base.

This allows Activision to launch the same content in both games, and there are big plans for Call of Duty Warzone Season 4.

Four new multiplayer maps, five new weapons, new Points of Interests in Verdansk, and a new quest in Outbreak that sets the stage for the next free Zombies map are all being planned for the coming weeks.

But in a surprise move, it has also been announced that a new update is coming to Call of Duty Modern Warfare this month.

As part of the Call of Duty Season 4 launch, MW fans will be able to download a special texture pack.

This will also be available in COD Warzone and will help boost the visuals in both games across all platforms.

The new hi-res download will not be available today, but will be going live next week on Tuesday, June 22.

A message from Activision explains: “Following the launch of Season Four, Warzone and Modern Warfare console players will also have the option to download a new High-Res Texture Pack on June 22.

“This will add more high-definition textures to the game, which is optimal for those running the game at higher resolutions such as 1440p and 4K.

“The High-Res Texture Pack will have an approximate download size of 7.2-7.6 GB, depending on the console.”

Meanwhile, Warzone is getting new points of interest to explore in Verdansk, as well as a fresh storyline to follow.

With the Zombies now gone and Verdansk back in 1984, Activision are starting to lay the groundwork for the next big game update.

A description for the new Red Door event reads: “Something’s gone wrong in Verdansk, and the first step to finding out what is in those crashed satellites.

“Interact with Sat-Link impact sites throughout the city for event rewards and powerful items, and step through the mysterious Red Doors if you’re ready to explore Verdansk like never before.

“Our intel cannot explain the origin of these mysterious red doors around Verdansk, but one thing is certain: They allow you to [[REDACTED]] around the [[REDACTED]]. What’s behind them? Explore and enter them to [[REDACTED]] across the [[REDACTED]].

“Red Doors won’t [[REDACTED]] unless you ping them, and after you step through, there’s no telling [[REDACTED]] exiting out the other side… and stepping into a [[REDACTED]].”

Call of Duty Warzone update 1.38 patch notes: New COD download with Season 4 release

Call of Duty Warzone update 1.38 patch notes: New COD download with Season 4 release

A massive Call of Duty Warzone update is rolling out today, complete with long and detailed patch notes.

Version 1.38 of Warzone will be available to download at 5am BST, which is the same time Cold War Season 4 begins.

The new download weighs in between 4GB and 12GB, depending on which platform you are using and includes a lot more than just the new S4 content.

And while most of these big changes are being planned for later in June, it’s still worth checking out what is coming next.

With five new weapons being added to Warzone during Season 4, developers Raven Software are also taking the time to update existing items.

This includes a long list of weapons, with Raven Software telling fans today: “In a future patch, we will be making sweeping balance changes to Weapons.

“At a high level, Warzone is a game about engagements. The more time we allot to mechanical and strategic expression within engagements, the higher the ‘skill ceiling’ and the longer our personal journey of mastery.

“We believe the frequency of those engagements and how we navigate them heavily contributes to the overall level of fun. We want to enable more escapes from impossible situations, moments of finesse, epic outplays, and opportunities to flex exquisite marksmanship.

“Due to some Weapons being far more lethal than others in their class, we feel a reduction in the efficacy of those outliers is necessary.

“We expect these changes will bring the average Time to Kill up by approximately 60 to 100 milliseconds. These changes will not only increase the overall capacity for skill expression, but should also introduce some Weapons into viability that have not yet had a chance to shine.”

Raven has released the list of tweaks that are coming to the game, which focus on down-powering a number of meta guns.

The Streetsweeper is getting another nerf, alongside the CR-56 AMAX, while the DMR 14 is getting a slight buff following an earlier drop in specs.

These new weapon changes are not expected to come into play today but could arrive later in June.

The full weapon patch notes for Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 includes the following:

  • Assault Rifles

    • CR-56 AMAX (MW)

      • Upper Torso Damage multiplier decreased from 1.2 to 1.1

      • The real strength of the CR-56 AMAX (MW) layed in its long-range viability and the consistency of its Time to Kill. While we have made several moves to reduce its power level, the third time is in fact, the charm. We love the CR-56 AMAX (MW) and we will likely see it return in the future when the massive balance overhaul takes place. Though for now, we would like to shake up the long-range space and see what rises to the top.

    • Groza (BOCW)

      • Minimum Damage increased from 18 to 23

      • Upper Torso Damage Multiplier increased from 1.1 to 1.2

      • Lower Torso Damage Multiplier increased from 1 to 1.1

      • Maximum Damage range decreased by 12%

      • As a relatively slow-firing, low damage Assault Rifle, it is no surprise that the Groza (BOCW) has underperformed since its preemptive balance adjustment at the beginning of Season Three. This tune up should put it in a solid position in short to mid-range mobility based AR builds.

    • Assault Rifle Golf (MW)

      • Neck Damage Multiplier increased from 1 to 1.5

      • Upper Torso damage multiplier increased from 1 to 1.2

      • We would like to avoid increasing the power level of a Qeapon to a point where we would need to reduce it shortly after in the following balance overhaul. With that being said, the Assault Rifle Golf (MW) may soon see another power increase in the near future, but we think an improvement to its average Time to Kill is a good place to start.

    • XM4 (BOCW)

Epic Games Store free games LEAK: New free EGS download out later today

Epic Games Store free games LEAK: New free EGS download out later today

The Epic Games Store free games promotion continues today with a new freebie set to be released shortly. The current Epic Games Store free download – the hit multiplayer game Among Us – is only available until 4pm UK time this afternoon when a new freebie becomes available. And that game may have leaked early.

As highlighted in a post on Reddit, the next Epic Games Store free game might be 11 bit studios’ city-building survival game Frostpunk.

Frostpunk was first released in 2018, and has an 84 percent Metacritic score.

The strategy game currently isn’t available on the Epic Games Store.

But previous EGS freebies have arrived on the Steam rival on day one as part of the money-saving free games promotion.

Frostpunk received 9/10 ratings from publications such as IGN and GameSpot.

Speaking about Frostpunk, IGN said: “In a steampunk ice age, the only thing that can be crueler than the bitter cold are the decisions you have to make to keep your people alive.”

While GameSpot added: “Frostpunk is among the best overall takes on the survival city builder to date. Its theming and consistency create a powerful narrative through line that binds your actions around the struggle to hold onto humanity in uncertain times.

“Hope is a qualified good, but you may not always be strong enough (or clever enough) to shelter that flame from the cold.”

In case you’re thinking of picking up Frostpunk, here is the official blurb: “Frostpunk is the first society survival game. As the ruler of the last city on Earth, it is your duty to manage both its citizens and infrastructure. What decisions will you make to ensure your society’s survival? What will you do when pushed to breaking point? Who will you become in the process?”

Minecraft 1.17 pre-update: Download now before Caves & Cliffs release date

Minecraft 1.17 pre-update: Download now before Caves & Cliffs release date
Gamers interested in finding out what was in today’s Minecraft 1.17 pre-patch can find the first details below.

As confirmed by Mojang earlier this month, plenty of bug fixes and small changes are being added to the game in the lead up to the big 1.17 launch.

A message from the development team explains: “From now on, you should mostly see bugs being fixed. In addition to that, pre-releases doesn’t follow the regular snapshot cadence of releasing on Wednesdays, so keep an eye out!

“Additionally, based on feedback from the community, we have decided to include candles in part 1 of Caves & Cliffs again. Candles will become available in Bedrock shortly after the release of part 1.”

Candle being brought back is one of the more notable changes in today’s Minecraft update, which should be available for everyone to download now.

More pre-patches are expected to drop in the weeks to come, with this just being the first.

And with the new release cycle upon us, it looks like the full Caves & Cliffs update will be available to download near the end of June.

Mojang has chosen to split the Caves update into two parts, telling fans in May: “The first part of the Caves and Cliffs update will include new mobs, new items (like the amethyst shard), and new blocks – and it just so happens we’re going deep on one of those for you today. Meet the copper ore block.

“Copper is the first new ore to be added to Minecraft in a long time, since the addition of Nether Quartz ore in the Redstone update in 2013. It comes in two variants – a regular one found in stone, and a rarer version found in deepslate, close to the bottom of the world.

“Want some? Grab a pick and go mining – but don’t dig too deep. Veins of copper ore are most commonly found at medium depths, not too close to the surface, but not too far down either. Oh, and don’t worry – you won’t need fancy tools to mine it. A stone pickaxe will do just fine.

“Unlike other ores, like iron, the block itself won’t drop when you mine it (unless you’re using a silk touch pick). Instead, you’ll get a few chunks of raw copper, each of which can be smelted into a copper ingot.”

And for a lowdown on what was added today, you can find the pre Minecraft 1.17 patch notes listed below:

  • Added new advancements

  • Added “Whatever Floats Your Goat!” for floating in a boat with a goat
  • Added “Wax on” for applying wax to a Copper block!
  • Added “Wax off” for scraping wax off a Copper block!
  • Added “The Cutest Predator” for catching an axolotl in a bucket!
  • Added “The Healing Power of Friendship!” for teaming up with an axolotl and winning a fight
  • Added “Glow and Behold” for making a sign glow
  • Added “Light as a Rabbit” for walking on powder snow with leather boots
  • Added “Surge Protector!” for having a lightning strike a lightning rod near a villager without setting the area on fire
  • Added “Is it a Bird?” for looking at a parrot through a spyglass
  • Added “Is it a Balloon?” for looking at a ghast through a spyglass
  • Added “Is it a Plane?” for looking at a dragon through a spyglass

  • Candles have been added back to the creative inventory
  • Recipes for crafting and dying candles are once again available
  • Candles now have a different texture when lit
  • Glowing text on signs now has an outer glow, making text in dark colours more visible in the dark
  • Holding down the space bar now increases the scroll speed in the credits

Pre-releases are available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install the pre-release, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the “Installations” tab.

Pre-releases can corrupt your world, so please make a backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

Fortnite update PATCH NOTES revealed for surprise NEW Xbox, Switch and PC download

Fortnite update PATCH NOTES revealed for surprise NEW Xbox, Switch and PC download
Fortnite developer Epic Games has released a brand new update.

The latest Fortnite update comes as a bit of a surprise, launching just a few days after the 16.50 patch.

According to Epic Games, the new Fortnite download is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC. There’s currently no word on a PlayStation release.

Unfortunately, however, the new update doesn’t add any major new gameplay features or make any particularly exciting tweaks.

Instead, it’s all about improving the game’s stability on the aforementioned platforms, which means Fortnite should run smoother as a result.

On the plus side, the new update doesn’t require any server downtime, so you can jump back in as soon as it’s installed.

News of the update, as well as the current patch notes information was announced by Epic Games on Twitter.

“We are deploying a maintenance patch on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox consoles and Android to address stability issues,” reads a Fortnite post.

“The patch will be available to download before starting the game or at the end of your match.”

The previous Fortnite update re-introduced the Dual Pistols, and also laid the foundations for the end of season event.

There’s even more good news for fans of Creative, as the islands have greatly increased in size.

But the most exciting new addition is the release of special Foreshadowing challenges, which somehow tie-in to the next season.

The first two Foreshadowing challenges task players with repairing damaged telescopes and investigating a downed black helicopter site.

Additional challenges will be released in the coming days, including one task revolving around the use of CB Radios, and another where players must place warning signs at crop circles.

The final Foreshadowing challenge tasks players with destroying “spooky TV sets”.

Judging by the Foreshadowing challenges, Season 7 could have some involve space exploration and aliens. We’ll find out more in the coming weeks.

If you want help completing the initial batch of Foreshadowing challenges, check out Express Online’s guide by clicking the link.
