Cyberpunk update 1.2 PATCH NOTES: Delayed CD Projekt download makes big changes

Cyberpunk 2077 fans can download a big new update, as version 1.2 finally gets a release on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Originally pencilled in for a late February launch, CD Projekt delayed update 1.2 due to a real-life cyber attack.

After a few weeks of silence, CD Projekt has finally detailed the contents of the new update, which makes crucial changes on console and PC.

According to the update 1.2 patch notes, the download addresses the behaviour of the police within the game.

Previously, police would instantly appear out of nowhere when players committed a crime in Night City.

As you can see from the video below, the update fixes the problem: “It should decrease the problem of NPCs spawning behind players’ backs and create an impression that it takes some time for the police to arrive at the crime scene after the crime has been reported.

“We’ve also added a recon “drone” unit to create the feeling of the police assessing the situation.”

Steering issues will also be addressed in update 1.2, which adds a sensitivity slider to the Options menu.

“Analysing feedback on our driving model suggested a lot of players were having issues with the speed of the steering,” CD Projekt continues.

“Most complaints came from players using keyboards on PC or were on platforms with lower frame rates, and centered around how hard it was to keep cars off the sidewalks and such.

“We have added a Steering Sensitivity slider to the Options menu. This allows the steering speed for all vehicles and all input devices to be slowed down, without affecting the maximum turn radius.

“When experiencing lower frame rates, our cars were harder to control. We traced this to some code that wasn’t handling extreme changes in frame rate properly. The steering speed is now very consistent from 20 to 60+ FPS.”

Speaking of vehicles, CD Projekt has added the ability to get unstuck when driving and crashing into obstacles.

The new Unstuck feature automatically kicks in when you are accelerating and not moving.

“While holding down the accelerator, you can now rock the vehicle forward or back, or rotate it left/right.”

Elsewhere, players can turn off dodge on double-tapping a movement key in the Controls settings.

“The Dodge action can still be performed by double-tapping the Crouch(toggle) action key (default C).

“It should now be more feasible to move WASD bindings around the keyboard. There still remain a few bindings that need to be addressed, but these should be fixed in upcoming patches.”

Full patch notes will follow soon. Express Online will post the complete update 1.2 patch notes when available.

Xbox Series X and Xbox One free games for the weekend: Download two huge releases NOW

After a busy week of game announcements, Microsoft has even more good news for Xbox owners.

As part of Microsoft’s regular Free Play Days promotion, Xbox Gold subscribers can download and play a couple of huge games for free.

Provided you’ve got an active Xbox Gold subscription, you can download and play Cities Skylines and Stellaris at no cost. The games are playable on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

The games are available to play until 7.59am GMT on the morning of March 15, so you’ve got plenty of time to see what the fuss is about.

If you enjoy the games and want to carry on playing after the free trial ends, then the good news is that any progress you make during the Free Play Days weekend will carry over to the full release.

Better yet, you can purchase the games at a discounted price for a limited time.

Stellaris Console Edition, for example, is available for just £10.55, while the Deluxe Edition costs £14.84.

Cities Skylines, meanwhile, is reduced to the low price of £7.99. That’s a saving of 75%.

Stellaris: Console Edition is a grand strategy game with a Metacritic score of 81% on Xbox One.

“Reach for the stars and reign over them in the newly expanded Stellaris: Console Edition. Discover the mysteries of the galaxy, expand your space-faring civilization, and ultimately rule the cosmos – all is within your hands and your thumbsticks.

“Hungering for more? Stellaris: Console Edition and Deluxe Edition will be 67% off for a limited-time as part of Deals with Gold.”

It’s also worth pointing out that Stellaris DLC is also on sale as part of the Free Play Days promotion.

Elsewhere, Cities: Skylines is a city building game that shares similarities with the likes of SimCity.

“Create a bustling metropolis in Cities: Skylines, the award-winning city management simulator!

“Starting with a single plot of land, you’ll build and manage a complex series of systems, all to keep citizens happy while balancing the budget.

“A city that never sleeps, a sprawling suburban community, or the small-town of your dreams – the choice is yours! And keep the fun going with Cities: Skylines and other editions up to 75% off in the Microsoft Store.”

PUBG Mobile update 1.3: Hundred Rhythms download LIVE with Season 18 release news

UPDATE: PUBG Mobile update 1.3 is rolling out today, with the first patches going live on Android and iOS now. The new download is being released region-by-region, meaning some gamers will have to wait for the new Hundred Rhythms content to arrive.

Meanwhile, PUBG Mobile Season 18 and the Royale Pass is set to arrive later this month, with further details on that launch listed below.

ORIGINAL: Tencent launches PUBG Mobile update 1.3 on Tuesday, March 9, and the development team has big plans for the coming weeks.

These have been shared in the full updates notes, which list what gamers can expect from the Hundred Rhythms Anniversary celebrations, and the Season 18 Royale Pass.

The big news is that PUBG Mobile 1.3 will introduce a new electronic music festival to the Erangel map, starting on Tuesday.

The third-year anniversary changes will give players the chance to use the new “Music Armbands”, which grants three special skills.

Those who wield will be able to choose a skill that suits them while also being able to upgrade that chosen skill by collecting scattered cassettes.

Tencent has teased that these new skills will help gamers dominate the battlefield, with the exclusive gameplay mode carrying on from January’s Runes.

The new gameplay experience will be available after downloading PUBG Mobile update 1.3, which requires 640 MB storage space on Android devices; meanwhile, the iOS version requires 1.55 GB.

The good news is that Tencent will not need to take PUBG Mobile servers offline but they have warned that until you update your game, you will not be able to play with others using different versions.

“Please note that players on different versions cannot team up with each other, so please update as soon as possible.”

Here’s the official description of PUBG Mobile update 1.3 from Tencent, which reads: “A screen requiring players to choose a skill will appear on Spawn Island. Players will need to choose 1:the Guardian Armband, Recon Armband, or Camouflage Armband before the match begins.

“Players will get 3 skills after selecting a skill. The first is an active skill that grants the player a powerful ability; the other two are passive skills that grant the player buffs. Players will start the match with just the core skill and will need to get cassettes to unlock the passive skills.

“In each match, 3 electronic music squares will spawn on Erangel. One of them will always spawn on Spawn Island, while the other 2 will spawn in random locations. The electronic music festival playing dance music awaits your exploration.”

The new armband choices are as follows:

Guardian Armband:

  • Music Barrier – Generates a semi-transparent barrier that reduces the damage taken from bullets.
  • Music Conversion – Use this feature to disable the barrier and recover the Energy of allies within range instead.
  • Pop Metal – Players and their allies will have decreased reload time when they are inside the barrier.

Recon Armband:

  • Sonic Scan – Throw a scanning device forward to scan and mark enemies.
  • Encore – Recover Health after knocking out marked enemies.
  • Sound Burst – When there are marked enemies, your ammo will carry an electric charge that deals damage over time to enemies hit.

Camouflage Armband:

  • Stealth – Player’s outfit changes to a Ghillie Suit for a period of time. The weapons and backpack on the player’s back will be concealed during this period.
  • Surveillance – A UI tip will appear on the screen if there are any enemies nearby.
  • Breathing Easy – If the player hasn’t taken any damage recently, the player will gradually recover Health.
Tencent has also confirmed that the PUBG Mobile Season 17 release date has been set for March 19, which is when the new Royale Pass will be available to purchase.

This will include fresh cosmetics to unlock, as well as 3rd Anniversary music-themed screen and rewards.

Players can choose rank rewards twice as they progress in the Royale Pass, and after the anniversary party starts, some special guests will also make an appearance.

In addition to an AUG finish, players also get to choose between 2 advanced sets at rank 1 and rank 50. At rank 100, get the Violin Music Set and a mysterious Kar98K Finish.

Here’s what else Tencent has announced for PUBG Mobile Season 18, telling gamers this week:

“An adventure event will start with the music. Adventure Vouchers have been added to the free rank rewards, and players can use them to redeem 1 of 2 sets twice on the event page. The adventure awaits.

“The RP Activity Pack event begins in the new season: Purchase the RP Activity Pack to gain RP ranks quickly and collect Mission Activity Points to get your UC back as rebates.

Fixed other bugs affecting missions and other content to improve players’ experiences.”

PS5 update: Download a surprise PlayStation game bonus TODAY

PS5 console owners are slowly getting new games upgraded from the PS4, as well as brand new exclusives added regularly each month.

Some are big names, while others are indie hits waiting to make a big ripple on next-gen consoles.

And this month has seen a surprise new demo released before a full version of the game is launched on PS4 and PS5 consoles.

What makes this latest addition a little unique is that the new demo will be running until the full game hits the PlayStation Store.

And not only can fans download it now, but they can keep much of their built up experience for launch day in April.

So if you’re looking for something new to check out, it might be worth downloading Outriders on PS5.

A new IP from Square Enix, Outriders is a cover shooter that has already started to build a fanbase.

And while the new demo is by no means perfect, it does provide plenty of scope for the development team to improve things.

The past week has seen gamers put Outriders through its paces and the rules have been laid out by Square Enix.

You don’t need to pre-order Outriders or register your interest via an email address; Outriders can be found easily on the PS Store.

The Outriders Demo is set to remain available for the foreseeable future, unlike most betas that come and go before a full release date.

The Outriders Demo features the first full chapter, allowing gamers to explore much like other free episodes on the PS4 and PS5.

This includes the early story and tutorials, as well as the remaining mechanics that are introduced in the game.

And the big one for those who are enjoying themselves is that the Outriders carries over to the full game.

That means your character and progress will all be waiting for you in the main game, as well as another big freebie.

If you end up buying Outriders on PS4 and then move over to the PS5, you’ll be able to unlock the next-gen version for free.

It makes it the perfect time to check out the new PS5 demo, as the full game won’t be released until April 1, 2021.

A message from the Outriders team lays out more of the features available as part of the new demo, telling gamers this week:

“All four classes in the game – Trickster, Pyromancer, Devastator, and Technomancer – are available for you to play in the demo. We encourage you to experiment and find your perfect class.

“Will you be a fire-flinging tank capable of soaking up hits as you immolate your enemies? Or will you be a DPS-Devastator jumping into the fray to cause maximum mayhem in the mob? Mix and match abilities, give them a test-run and find what suits you.

“Eventually, you’ll find the class that speaks to you – and when you do, you can start co-op.

“Not only is this the first time you’ll be able to hop into the world of Enoch, but you can also do so with the help of your friends! Outriders supports three-player teams, letting you tackle missions, explore the world and progress through the story together.

“You can find a matchmaking terminal in your camp if you’re looking for squadmates.”

Full cross-play between all compatible platforms is enabled during the demo period, meaning you can play with your friends on different platforms for the length of the three-hour demo and beyond.
