PS Now July 2021: Sony dropping Marvel’s Avengers for new PS4 games

PS Now July 2021: Sony dropping Marvel’s Avengers for new PS4 games

Marvel’s Avengers will be replaced by Sony this week on the PS Now subscription service, starting on July 6, 2021.

And while that will prove a big blow to all those on consoles and PC who have enjoyed the RPG brawler, there is still plenty to look forward to.

Each month, the tech giant adds an array of games to the PlayStation Now streaming service, with one guaranteed to be an indie title.

Previous months have seen Sony go beyond offering just three PS4 games, meaning any number could arrive next month.

For example, seven games were added to the service in June, headlined by The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt.

Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown was a surprise addition, combining a free launch on PlayStation Plus with the game also becoming playable on PS Now.

None of these games will be disappearing this month, but there are a few changes to know about in July.

While gamers aren’t losing the Witcher 3 this month, they will need to say goodbye to Marvel’s Avengers.

What makes this removal a little more painful is that Avengers has proven very popular across all platforms.

Sony confirmed that it was the most played game on PS4 and PS5 console between March 1 and June 1, and the most played on PC over the same period.

What makes this a bit more special is that while data was used from March 1 to June, Marvel’s Avengers was only added to the service during April.

This means that even though it was only available for two of the three months included, it still proved immensely popular with subscribers.

So fans will be hoping for something special to help fill the void left by one of the most popular games available on the PS Now platform during 2021.

The good news is that there are plenty of new games that could take the place of Marvel’s Avengers.

Marvel’s Spider-Man was a big hit when it launched on PlayStation Now, and there are still plenty of first-party games that could be selected.

At least one of these new games will be from the indie genre, and it will be up to Sony how many titles are added to the service during 2021.

PS Now is a streaming-only service, so none of these games will need to be downloaded and installed onto your console.

It should also be noted that PS Now can also be accessed via a PC or PS5 console by simply downloading the official app and having a compatible controller to hand.

Sony is expected to announce its plans for new PS Now games this month on Monday, July 5.

And whatever is selected will be launching alongside the latest free PS Plus games on Tuesday, July 6.

These are the current games listed as being removed on July 5 from the PS Now games library:

England boss Gareth Southgate has three players who need dropping after flat Scotland draw

England boss Gareth Southgate has three players who need dropping after flat Scotland draw

England are back to being England again. This was meant to be the year football came home but, after drawing with Scotland on Friday night, the country is back to being in a state of despair. So Express Sport will now take a look at three players who need dropping after the dire result, with Gareth Southgate now preparing for Tuesday’s showdown with the Czech Republic.

Harry Kane

Let’s start with the obvious.

Harry Kane was meant to be England’s saviour, the player to propel them to Euro 2020 glory after sparkling for Tottenham last term.

But, after two matches in the competition so far, the Spurs hitman looks a shadow of his usual self.

Kane was abysmal against Scotland on Friday night, managing just 19 touches, a 63 per cent pass completion rate and no shots on target.

And it spoke volumes about his display that, with England needing a goal, Southgate hooked him instead – bringing on Marcus Rashford in his place.

Mason Mount

Mason Mount is a talent.

But he’s failed to bring his Chelsea form to the international stage at Euro 2020, producing two anonymous performances in the competition so far.

Mount should, therefore, be used off the bench instead.

The Chelsea star has the potential to shine there and, by dropping him, it would allow Southgate to bring Jack Grealish into the fold.

Grealish was unable to break Scotland down after his introduction but did, at least, pose a threat. Which was more that can be said for Mount, who remains quality – but in need of a rest.

Southgate defends cautious approach

Speaking after the game, England boss Gareth Southgate defended his side’s cautious approach against Scotland.

“It feels difficult in the last 15 minutes of a game like tonight where fans are desperate for you to go forward and abandon shape, because it’s Scotland, it feels like a unique occasion, but we have to still approach it that a point is still an important step towards qualification, which ultimately is the first objective for us,” said Southgate.

“I think in those moments, if we had to chase to win with no consequence for conceding, you might approach it differently; but all the time, it’s a night where it was a bit frantic, it wasn’t a game with a huge amount of control, and you have to make sure that sitting on three points as we were, you manage the tournament as well as the game.

“It’s easy to gamble towards the end, and lose shape, and then end up losing the game in the last five minutes, then you’re kicking yourself for not managing the tournament. I understand we’re at Wembley, we wanted to win, but in the context of the tournament qualification is the most important thing.

“It’s a game where we didn’t hit the levels we wanted to, or need to, and have to accept whatever comes our way, I’ll have to accept whatever comes my way, I totally understand that, but what we need to do is make sure we get behind the players.

“There’s a lot of young players who need the support of everybody – most of them haven’t been involved in a game like that before, they’ll learn a lot and bounce back from it, but they need everybody behind them.”

PS5 Stock UK: FINAL PlayStation 5 restock dropping for May?

PS5 Stock UK: FINAL PlayStation 5 restock dropping for May?
A new report suggests that there could be one final PS5 stock drop in May, courtesy of Smyths Toys.

The UK retailer has been pretty quiet over recent weeks, with the likes of Argos, Amazon and GAME providing the biggest restocks of next-gen consoles.

But a new report out this week suggests that May could have one more Stock drop to give, and it could happen today.

It should be noted that this remains a prediction, for now, meaning this new stock drop could happen between May 28 and June 5.

And that’s quite a wide range of dates, even if you remove the weekend from the equation.

The information has been shared by the PS5 Instant Twitter account, which has provided some solid predictions in the past.

Sadly, we don’t have a time to check the Smyths website, meaning the stock drop could happen at any moment.

In the past, Smyths have chosen to release consoles in the evening, but there is no way of knowing if it will stick to this pattern.

And Smyths could be joined by several other retailers who are reportedly planning to release consoles in June.

Based on what has been shared so far, the new PS5 Amazon stock will be dropping between June 2 and June 9.

Meanwhile, Very is expected to release its next shipment closer to the end of June, with GAME also linked with a drop next month.

However, an earlier prediction regarding GAME having new stock in early June has been restricted by another reliable source.

PS5 Stock Alert UK, who earlier predicted a PlayStation restock for June, posted this update, telling console hunters:

“We found out yesterday’s restock was the 15K stock count we mentioned in the previous tweet below. On top of the 15K stock, there was 5K cancelled orders, so 20K drop in total, hence why the drop was massive and took ages to sell out.

“Which means there is zero information on a restock next week unless they decide to drop cancelled order restock next week for the failed orders yesterday.”

Stock trackers suggest something from Tesco could arrive between today and June 2 and will be made available through the website. It appears these latest next-gen consoles will be made available as pre-orders, meaning they won’t arrive until sometime in June.

Finding out that more PlayStation stock is coming is important, but console hunters should also know the best ways to get stock from each platform.

Here are a few examples of how best to try and buy a PlayStation 5 console from leading UK retailers:

GAME: GAME is a UK retailer that offers the most regular stock updates for PS5 consoles. However, console hunters have been warned to use Guest Checkout, as this option is less likely to crash when completing a purchase. GAME recently restocked the PS5 and is now out of stock again.

ARGOS: The Argos website is notorious for crashing and being unable to complete purchases when site traffic is high. Stock trackers suggest using the mobile Argos app and keeping an eye on local store listings. Argos is not expected to receive any more stock until June.

CURRYS: Currys have not been sharing a lot of stock during May but has been supplying consoles via a new system. This includes signing up for the Currys VIP Pass, which means heading over to the website and using an email address. If you do this, you have a chance of buying a PS5 console from a store, within a 72-hour window.

AMAZON UK: Amazon UK runs better under strain but still comes with a few kinks worth mentioning. Having an account set up with your card details is a good start, and gamers should also try adding a console to their wishlist before checking out. Amazon is expected to release new stock in early June.

Arteta's explanation after dropping several Arsenal stars branded “little mafia”

Mikel Arteta has explained his decision to drop several Arsenal stars – including skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – for the Europa League clash with Slavia Prague.

Arteta axed captain Aubameyang as well as Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos as he made six changes for Thursday’s quarter-final, following the Gunners’ 3-0 loss to Liverpool[1] at the weekend.

Youngsters Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe were given the nod to face Slavia, as well as Granit Xhaka, Willian, Hector Bellerin and Cedric Soares, with Kieran Tierney injured, Martin Odegaard left out as a precaution and Calum Chambers also missing out.

After the dismal defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side, pundit Gary Neville branded some of Arsenal’s[2] front six a “little mafia” who looked “disinterested” in playing for their manager.

And Arteta opened up on his changes ahead of Thursday’s first-leg clash at the Emirates, saying he had picked a team he believed could get the Gunners off to the best possible start – a telling comment given he had dropped his captain to the bench.

“We had to pick the right team to try and start the game in the best possible way and as well have the options to change the game,” the manager told BT Sport.

“In Europe we have the possibility to make five subs and that’s a big thing. We want to use our full squad in the best possible way.”

On playing Cedric at left-back – with no left-footed player on that flank – Arteta said: “Cedric has played well. We know it’s not his preferred position but it’s a solution we had to find.

“Kieran will be out for a few weeks, I think, and he will be missed because he brings something unique to the team, but other players have to step in.”

Asked how Arsenal could pick themselves up after their defeat to Liverpool, Arteta said: “It’s out of the system now. We’re fully focused on the importance of these games and play with the ambition and passion these games deserve. If we do that we’re going to be in a good place.”

After that defeat, Neville said he felt a “disconnect” between Arteta and some of his players was evident.

Speaking on on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, he said: “We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes at Arsenal[3], but I have to say there’s a few of those players in the front part of the pitch who looked like a little mafia against Liverpool.

“It looked like a group of players who weren’t comfortable, like there was a disconnect between them and the manager.

“The manager looked like he’d had enough of them. He had that glazed-eye look.

“It’s instinct, but we’ve been around football for long enough to know when a group of players are disinterested.”

‘No one wants to see it’: Boxing veteran De la Hoya earns mockery after dropping mic to tell rapper Snoop Dogg of comeback (VIDEO)

‘No one wants to see it’: Boxing veteran De la Hoya earns mockery after dropping mic to tell rapper Snoop Dogg of comeback (VIDEO)

Former multi-weight boxing champion De La Hoya has announced his return to the ring on Triller alongside hip-hop star Snoop Dogg – then promptly dropped the mic and made a dramatic exit from the stage before being mocked by fans.

Legendary brawler De La Hoya has finally followed up on his threat to return to boxing by announcing the date of his comeback.

During a Triller Fight Club press conference hosted by rapper-turned-commentator Snoop on Friday, the 48-year-old made his intentions official, and will now follow the likes of Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr and Evander Holyfield in returning to the squared circle.

“July 3, I’m making my comeback,” said the Mexican-American emphatically, just seconds before a dramatic mic drop.

Still without an opponent as of yet, De La Hoya commented this week to DAZN’s Chris Mannix that “we all know that a [Floyd] Mayweather fight would be massive”

In 2007, De La Hoya and Mayweather broke pay-per-view records with a tight clash that ‘Money’ edged via split decision after some felt Golden Boy Promotions supremo De La Hoya had done enough to win.

As Mayweather is trying to reschedule a canceled exhibition bout with internet sensation Logan Paul that was originally penciled in for February 20, however, De La Hoya might need to look at initially taking on another aging former foe such as Shane Mosley or Felix Trinidad.

Retiring after a ninth-round TKO loss to Manny Pacquiao, the former six-division king revealed to Mannix that Tyson “inspired the hell out of me” to come back and that he had “been training for quite a while now”.

“I actually sparred the other day and I didn’t know I was that good,” De La Hoya added.

Not everyone is impressed, however.

“No one wants to see it,” commented one weary cynic on Twitter, while another was more elaborate.

“Did somebody ask for this?” they asked. “He can do whatever and he’s a great fighter, but was someone in the entire world hoping this would happen?”
