Eamonn Holmes in traffic hell during break away with wife Ruth after ‘serious accident'

Eamonn Holmes, 61, has spoken out on his worry as he and Ruth Langsford headed on a break away today. The This Morning host shared how the couple were currently stuck in standstill traffic after a “serious accident” had occurred on the M25.

Eamonn typed on Twitter: “Why didn’t I stay in the back garden? M25. Clockwise from South Mimms.”

Alongside his post, he shared a photo of the gridlock occurring on the motorway as joyous Brits hoped to enjoy a day out in the much-needed sunshine.

Despite his annoyance at their current situation, the star admitted he was more concerned over the wellbeing of animals being kept in horseboxes as the weather began to heat up.

He continued: “No movement for at least an hour.

Talking to the camera, whilst on the backseat of a chauffeur-driven car, he said: “Hello there, good morning to you. I’m on my way to work today and it’s a gorgeous sunny day.

“And a gorgeous sunny day makes me feel very happy, mostly very happy that we are back on This Morning this week and we’d just like to thank everybody who has made it such a pleasure for Ruth and I in welcoming us back.

“So, after today it will be one week gone, six more to go. And we can’t guarantee the weather will be there, like this, throughout the run but we certainly will be and what we need is your company.

“So, however your Friday shapes up, I hope it’s a good one, I hope the sun shines on you over the weekend and you get to enjoy it.”

He finished the video by adding: “Thanks for watching, see you from 10 o’clock this morning and indeed next week for the next six weeks after that!”

Fans loved the clip but many asked why he was travelling alone. “Lovely having you back. You and Ruth have such great banter. Do you and Ruth travel separately?” one asked.

Indeed, the couple do commute separately, with Ruth explaining the reason to Platinum Magazine last year. “We tried going together once and it was an absolute nightmare because he made me half an hour late,” Ruth explained at the time.

“He was saying, ‘What do you need to be in at 8am for?’ He’s a ship-up-10-minutes-before kind of guy. That’s where we are absolutely on opposite ends of the scale.”

Last night, Kane again scored the winning goal – taking his shot after a missed penalty, causing celebrations across the country.

However, as the celebrations got underway, Sky News’ David Blevins tweeted: “Official: Commentator confirms that England fans have stolen ‘Sweet Caroline’ from Northern Ireland fans. I prefer the word ‘borrowed’ myself.”

“Get yer own song Ingerland [sic],” added Irish Mirror’ Jilly Beattie.

After seeing the post, Eamonn responded: “Guys, I’ve been itching about this all night. Not a single reference to us. #GAWA Football or Boxing. @NeilDiamond would have got nowhere with that Song if it wasn’t for Our Wee Country.”

Andrew kicked off the first show by sharing details about what viewers can expect and introduced its presenters.

During his introduction speech, he couldn’t resist taking at swipe at his BBC rivals.

He said: “We are proud to be British. The clue is in the name. While we will never hold back from covering our country’s many flaws and problems, we will not come at every story with the conviction that Britain is always at fault, usually to blame when things go wrong, generally useless.

“We won’t forget what the B stands for in our title.”

During a later discussion, Eamonn revealed that he doesn’t know how he managed to slip the discs his back, revealing that he’s been told it’s apparently his fault.

“I think it’s the fault of the people who design chairs, who design cars,” he quipped.

“There’s so many things, you get beds that are practically on the floor or too high.

“You get to an age where you think, ‘Who designed this sofa?’ because I really do think people have a lot to answer for.

“These things are [meant to be] moulded to your body, most chairs and sofas are far too low, most cars are impossible to get into.”

Elsewhere in his video update, Eamonn admitted his condition has left him becoming like the neighbourhood watch.

Some of the crime he’s been tuning into has included cars being stolen, dogs stolen and someone cutting down trees inexplicably.

He said: “As I sit at home I’m becoming involved in the neighbourhood watch, you would not believe what goes on where I live.

“So I live in a really nice area and basically we’ve had cars stolen last night, we’ve had dogs stolen and worst of all, you’ll not believe this, we’ve got a phantom tree feller.

“So someone for the last two weeks has been cutting trees down all around the place and they do this about 4’oclock in the morning!”

“Not being able to bend down, reach, pick up things when I drop them, put things in the right place, and keep a sense of order has been frustrating, shameful and humbling.”

Eamonn then candidly added: “Without help, without Ruth, I wouldn’t be able to cook or clean up after myself.

“Dishes would be in the sink for days, because I just wouldn’t have the strength or motivation to keep the house as close to a ‘show house’ as I could.”

Eamonn added to the Daily Star that the pain he is suffering from currently is “more than I have ever known”.

Ruth replied: “Not really, I mean I will take them for a headache, but I try not to.

“But also it’s very hard to watch the person you love in so much pain when you feel very helpless, you can’t really do anything.”

She pointed out that painkillers don’t get to the root of the problem and only dull the pain for a short amount of time.

“So you take the painkillers, think that’s a bit better, then they wear off and the pain is back,” she explained.

“If the pain is still there, then the painkillers aren’t actually working, are they? Getting to the root of the cause.”
