Sony PlayStation State of Play event: HUGE PS5 gameplay reveal to take centre stage

Sony PlayStation State of Play event: HUGE PS5 gameplay reveal to take centre stage

Sony is reportedly getting ready to hold a big State of Play event for the summer.

The next State of Play event is rumoured to take place in the coming weeks, and will focus on upcoming PS4 and PS5 games.

Fans can expect plenty of new game reveals, as well as updates on previously announced releases.

And if the latest reports are to be believed, this will include a first look at PlayStation exclusive God of War Ragnarok.

That’s according to respected leaker @Shpeshal_Nick, whose track record with Sony leaks is not to be scoffed at.

“I’m being told we’ll see our first gameplay of the new God of War at Sony’s show too. Will be exciting to see,” he tweets.

As a reminder, God of War Ragnarok was announced during last year’s PS5 release date event.

God of War Ragnarok was initially expected to launch in 2021, but was later pushed back until 2022.

Ragnarok is the sequel to 2018 release God of War, which was one of the finest games to grace the PS4.

Without delving into spoiler territory, plans for a sequel were teased at the end of Kratos and Atreus’s adventure in God of War.

The game is free for PS Plus subscribers, as part of the PlayStation Plus Collection on PS5.

If you haven’t already, God of War is well worth checking out, if only to witness the new gameplay style and unique story.

“Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats and a second chance at being a father.

“Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal realm of Midgard and fight to fulfil a deeply personal quest.

The game features various creatures and characters from Norse mythology, including Baldur, Modi and Magni.

The sequel is expected to introduce even more characters, including some of the more iconic beings from Norse mythology.

Apex Legends Genesis Event time, release date and updates news

Apex Legends Genesis Event time, release date and updates news

Respawn will be launching its latest update this week, with the new Apex Legends Genesis Event bringing new loot and fresh content to PS4, Xbox One and PC.

There won’t be any new playable characters released in June; however, Respawn has promised some existing Legends tweaks.

Octane’s Launchpad is getting dialled down, and with Respawn pointing out his popularity, this could affect many fans.

A message from Respawn explains: “Octane remains the most popular legend by a large margin even after the stim nerf.

“Turns out jump pads are fun, but with the added utility from the two launch options, it’s only fair to bump up the cooldown. LaunchPad cooldown increased from 60 seconds to 90 seconds.”

Revenant is apparently a bit of a chunky monkey, and Respawn hopes to reduce his hitboxes in certain areas to make him better in gunfights.

Mr Robot is also getting some buffs in other areas, with the official patch notes confirming: “Revenant’s large frame places him at a significant disadvantage in gunfights, particularly against smaller legends which no longer have Low Profile.

“We’re shrinking some of his hitboxes to counteract this disadvantage while also improving his ability to climb up walls and attack from unexpected angles.

“(We know this can be frustrating given how silent he is, so we’ll continue to monitor and add sound if necessary.)

“That said, we’re taking this opportunity to reduce some of the frustration that comes when playing against his tactical and ultimate.”

Bloodhound is another character being tweaked, with Respawn confirming that the Eye of the Allfather scan revealed time being decreased from 4 seconds to 3 seconds.

“Bloodhound has remained a popular and powerful pick for multiple seasons now, mostly because of the sheer amount of information that can be gained with one tap of their tactical.

“Shortening the scan duration still provides a snapshot of information for Bloodhound’s team without stifling all enemies caught anywhere in the large range for a full 4 seconds.”

This week’s Apex Legends Genesis Event has a release date scheduled for Tuesday, June 29.

This is a unified launch, meaning that all platforms will receive the update at the same time, including PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

And while we don’t know the “official” Apex Legends release time for the UK, things could change later today.

Respawn has set big updates live much earlier than advertised in the past, so it will be worth keeping an eye out for surprises.

But based on the current news, the Apex Legends event time has been scheduled for 6pm BST on June 29.

And for those wanting to know more about the Apex Legends Genesis Event can find the first details below, including details on the returning maps and fresh content:

Season 0 Kings Canyon and Season 3 World’s Edge return for a limited time, taking over the normal Trios and Duos queues in 1 hour rotations. What better way to celebrate the Legacy of Apex Legends than to visit the first iterations of these iconic maps?

Hot drop in Kings Canyon at Skull Town (we know you will) and Thunderdome! Grab that sweet loot on the moving train as it barrels through a pristine Capital City in the era before the Harvester landed in World’s Edge. Show your new Apex friends the terror of rotating through Bridges or the epic multi-team throwdowns in Fuel Depot. It’s all coming back now, isn’t it?

It ain’t a Collection Event without new unlockables. Let’s start with the freebies. As usual, the Genesis Collection Event brings a rewards track with all-new earnable cosmetics, this time including legendary Charge Rifle and EVA-8 weapon skins among the goodies.

You can earn 1,600 points per day and challenges refresh daily. There are also stretch challenges that reward four unique badges if you complete them during the event. All of these challenges also stack with your Battle Pass, so you can complete multiple at once.

First Lady Jill Biden to visit COVID-19 vaccine event at Minute Maid Park

First Lady Jill Biden to visit COVID-19 vaccine event at Minute Maid Park
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — First Lady Jill Biden and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff are expected to visit Minute Maid Park Tuesday to get a look at the new Astros COVID-19 vaccination event, according to White House officials.

Officials said Biden and Emhoff are staying to watch the Astros take on the Orioles that evening.

Mayor Sylvester Turner spoke at a vaccine clinic Saturday hosted by the Fountain Life Center and stressed the importance of the First Lady and Second Gentleman’s visit.

Turner praised the city for finding different ways to administer the vaccine by going where the people are.

“We are finding creative ways of getting it out, and I think they recognize that and that’s the reason why they’ve added Houston to their list,” Turner said.

The city partnered with Kroger to let people choose among any of the three vaccines approved in the U.S.

Turner remined Houstonians that vaccines are still available and encouraged everyone to continue wearing masks.

Right now, one-half of the city has at least one dose of the vaccine.

Pokemon Go Bidoof event countdown: New update as Trainers hunt for Shiny Bidoof

Pokemon Go Bidoof event countdown: New update as Trainers hunt for Shiny Bidoof

Niantic has confirmed that Shiny Bidoofs can now be found in Pokemon Go, at least until July 1.

This was revealed as part of the launch of the new Bidoof event, which includes several running rewards.

A message from the PoGo team reveals: “Bidoof will be appearing more often in the wild, in raids, and in encounters after you complete event-exclusive Field Research! If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Bidoof! Our preliminary research suggests that the rate at which Bidoof will be appearing in the wild will increase over the course of the event.

“On certain days of the event, Bidoof you encounter will know attacks that they normally cannot learn. On Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time, you can use a Charged TM to teach Bidoof any of these attacks.

“After the event, you can use an Elite Charged TM to do the same. During each of the times listed below, you can encounter Bidoof that know the following attacks.”

But while many of these new rewards are now active and Shiny Bidoofs can be found in Pokemon Go, more is being planned.

Niantic has teased that they will be launching something new on Monday, June 28, as part of the current Bidoof event.

“Keep an eye out for more details on what’s to come Bidoof-wise on Monday, June 28, 2021! Ready or not, the Bidoofs are coming. It’s an inevitable fact—an indomitable truth, even—and we must prepare. Let’s GO!”

We already know that new bonuses are being planned for this week that will increase 4× Catch XP, but this isn’t scheduled to happen until Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

There will also be a change in movesets, with Ice Beam becoming available on Tuesday.

So until Niantic makes its announcement on Monday, we won’t know exactly what is being planned.

Trainers looking out for Shiny Bidoofs have not been given any hints on how to increase their chances at an encounter.

However, they have been informed that Shadow Bidoofs can be unlocked by taking on Team Rocket Grunts.

We also know that there is a big incentive to evolve your Bidoofs this week as part of the new Pokemon Go event.

Not only will you unlock a new shiny if you have found the special Bidoof variant, but evolving Bidoof anytime during the event will unlock a Bibarel that knows Hyper Beam.

Gamers should also know that they can also unlock Bidoof Gift stickers by spinning PokéStops and opening Gifts during the timed event.

DOTA 2 Battle Pass, Spectre Arcana, Nemestice event game live with TI10

DOTA 2 Battle Pass, Spectre Arcana, Nemestice event game live with TI10

The DOTA 2 Battle Pass has been revealed, with the Tier 1 bundle costing 7.49, Level 50 priced at 26.99, and 41.99 for Level 100.

The Nemestice 2021 Battle Pass will expire if not used by Jan 1, 2022, and has been released alongside the latest TI10 Qualifiers.

The official Battle Pass description read: “In the wake of the Mad Moon’s destruction, willful fragments of Radiant Ore and Direstone crashed upon our world.

“But a third type of stone—Nemestice, warped remnants of the shattered moon still unswayed by either petulant Ancient and bursting with Zet’s sacrificed power—was left drifting behind.

“Aeons later, Nemestice at last makes landfall to disrupt their battle, and to those who would hold power over both Ancients, there is no greater prize.”

The 2021 Battle Pass is confirmed to include the Dragon Knight Persona and the awaited reveal of the Spectre Arcana.

Alongside the new 2021 Battle Pass is the Nemestice Event Game, which according to Valve, is open to everyone.

Gamers taking on the new event will need to harvest smouldering fragments from the crashing meteorites to seize a power that rivals both Radiant and Dire.

DOTA fans will need to destroy all of their enemy’s towers to claim the crash zone for their own and win the game.

The full breakdown of the Nemestice DOTA 2 event reads:

Every three minutes, the Nemestice Storm will cause a giant meteorite strike in the centre of the map. Channel meteorites to collect Nemestice Embers. Try to dodge any falling meteorites before they hit you.

Nemestice Embers grant Embercharge, boosting your attack damage, spell amplification, and movement speed. Gain enough Embercharge and you’ll even shock nearby opponents.

Each time a tower is destroyed, power disperses to its allied towers, making them stronger—as well as drawing the attention and assistance of Nemestice-crazed creeps. Destroy all enemy towers to claim the area and win.

A big part of the DOTA 2 Battle Pass is the Spectre Arcana, which included the following features:

The many aspects of Mercurial are fragments of a single form no longer—for one has stolen away from the many, and the realities of a new Spectre rise. Enticed and trapped by a cursed set of armour, a solitary shade of Mercurial finds that with each soul she harvests for the blighted plate, a stronger sense of self arrives along with it. While at first such forced separation enraged her, she now seeks this tantalizing freedom… Killing whoever she needs to earn more.

As Spectre kills, her armour will gain power, increasing the number of blades floating beside her. She also has a custom Kill Streak counter, and new icons and effects for Blademail and Radiance.

Help Spectre define her own reality with the edge of her blade. Earn a Mega Killstreak in 100 different games to unlock the Phantom Ascension alternate style.

  • All-new Model and Pedestal
  • Spectre’s model and loadout pedestal have been dispersed and refocused into a full item set to reflect the emergent reality of this newly autonomous shade.
  • Custom Animations & Effects
  • Features a full set of all-new animations, attack sound, and ambient effects, along with all-new effects for Spectral Dagger, Dispersion, Desolate, and Haunt.
  • Custom Hero Assets
  • Includes an all-new Kill Streak Counter, Hero Portrait, Ability Icons, and a minimap icon.
  • 500+ Arcana-exclusive voice lines
  • Features a dual-layer voice response system. As Spectre grows stronger, her responses will become focused and easier to understand.
  • Custom Death and Special Item Effects
  • Includes new custom death effects for both Spectre and the enemies that she kills, as well as a custom deny effect. She also receives new effects for Radiance and Blademail.
  • Unlockable Second Style

Deals include the 64GB iPhone 12 mini for £569 of the 128GB iPhone 12 for £709.

All colours are available including the new Purple model which was only launched a few months ago.

Here are some of the best iPhone 12 deals from Amazon’s Prime Day sale.

It also features new MagSafe wireless charging technology which makes it easier and more efficient to refill the battery without wires.

As well as cutting iPhone prices, Prime Day is also seeing Apple Watch costs dropped.

That means you can now strap one of these tech timepieces to your wrist for as little as £169.

Of course, to get these deals you’ll need to be a Prime member but Express.co.uk has an easy way of getting the discounts without paying Amazon for the subscription service. Find out more details here.

Next PS5 event rumours: Abandoned Silent Hill reveal, Bloodborne Remaster, PSVR 2 release

Next PS5 event rumours: Abandoned Silent Hill reveal, Bloodborne Remaster, PSVR 2 release

While PlayStation skipped E3, rumour has it Sony has another big PS5 event in the pipelines. According to the rumour mill, Sony may be hosting a PS5 event in just a few weeks time – on July 8. And in the run-up to the next PS5 event there are plenty of rumours swirling around about what Sony could announce.

Arguably the hottest rumour which has caught the attention of PS5 fans surrounds in-the-works title Abandoned.

When Abandoned was first announced in April PS5 fans were left wondering if the mysterious survival horror was actually a new Hideo Kojima game in disguise.

The Metal Gear Solid creator has form in doing this, with MGSV initially revealed as The Phantom Pain, a title allegedly made by Moby Dick Studio with the project fronted by ‘Joakim Mogren’.

This all turned out to an elaborate ruse, with ‘Joakim’ an anagram of Kojima.

While Abandoned developers Blue Box Game Studios were quick to deny any links to Kojima after the game’s initial reveal, the Silent Hill rumours have come back with a vengeance recently.

Ahead of an inbound reveal, the official Blue Box Game Studios Twitter put out a tweet that caught gamers attention.

The tweet said: “Guess the name: Abandoned = (First letter S, Last letter L). Reveal closing in… #PS5 #Exclusive”.

There is something that begins with S and ends in L, and that’s Silent Hill.

PS5 fans were quick to see this connection, which once again set the rumour mill abuzz.

After plenty of fan excitement Blue Box again had to issue a statement denying any links with Kojima or Silent Hill.

The devs tweeted: “We wanted to set things straight. We have no relations with Konami. Silent Hill is owned by Konami. We do not have any relations with Hideo Kojima. It was never our intention to tease the name as Silent Hill. We sincerely apologize for this.”

But this still hasn’t stopped the rumours from going away.

PS5 fans are still convinced Abandoned is Silent Hill in disguise, and have been spotting plenty of potential clues to back this theory up.

This includes fans taking a closer look at Hasan Kahraman, the game director of Blue Box Game Studios.

PS5 gamers have spotted the word Kahraman is the translation of Hideo from Japanese into Turkish.

While they’ve also spotted some interesting things on Hasan’s PSN profile, including a never before released game called Demon Blood.

And the artwork for the game features a monster that bears a striking resemblance to Pyramid Head.

There are plenty of tantalising clues that have been dropped.

And thankfully PS5 fans may not have too much longer to find out for certain.

The Blue Box Twitter has said an Abandoned gameplay reveal is “closing in”, with the trailer dropping on the PS5 trailers app.

But we could find out more information in an upcoming PlayStation event too.

Elsewhere rumours are circulating that Bloodborne could be getting a remaster which will get revealed at a PS5 event.

The latest Bloodborne Remastered rumours have been sparked by Tim Rogers.

The video game journalist dropped the hint when replying to a Twitter user who posted: “Where’s Bloodborne Remastered”.

To which Rogers replied: “Has there been a sony event yet”.

And finally ahead of the next Sony PS5 event rumours have emerged about the PSVR 2 headset.

According to a new report from Bloomberg, PSVR 2 could have a release date in 2022.

It’s been claimed PSVR 2 could be launching in holiday 2022 and the new headset will use OLED panels from Samsung.

Separately, it’s also been reported that PSVR 2 will have a total resolution of 4000 x 2040 and will use eye-tracking tech.
