PlayStation may have missed E3, but new Sony event could be just round the corner

The Direct-like event showcased 14 minutes of sumptuous gameplay, with Horizon Forbidden West arguably the best looking game revealed so far for any platform.

Ryan Lochte fails to advance in first event at US trials, drops out of another

Lochte is hoping to make it to one more Olympics to erase the stigma of an incident at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, where he lied about being robbed at gunpoint.

OMAHA, Neb. — Olympic champion Ryan Lochte failed to advance from the preliminaries of the 200-meter freestyle on Monday, his first event of the U.S. Olympic swimming trials.

The 36-year-old Lochte, attempting to make his fifth Olympic team, posted a time of 1 minute, 49.23 seconds — only good enough for 25th place overall.

The top 16 advanced to the evening semifinals, led by Kieran Smith at 1:46.54. Caeleb Dressel was second in 1:46.63.

Smith won the 400 free on Sunday to earn his first trip to the Olympics.

Lochte was also entered Monday in the 100 backstroke, but he scratched that event. Defending Olympic champion Ryan Murphy easily advanced from the preliminaries, as did 36-year-old Matt Grevers, the 2012 gold medalist.

Even though Lochte initially entered six events at the trials, it appears the 200 individual medley is the only race in which he has any realistic shot of earning a trip to Tokyo. He scratched the 400 IM on Sunday.

Lochte has won 12 Olympic medals, including six golds. Now married with two children, he hopes to make it to one more Olympics to erase the stigma of an incident at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, where he lied about being robbed at gunpoint.

For Honor Launches Year 5 Season 2: Mirage with Visions of the Kyoshin Event

For Honor’s Heathmoor has been stricken with drought in Year 5 Season 2 Mirage, which begins today on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One with the in-game Visions of the Kyoshin event. As the landscape dries out, the water and vegetation that hid the Myre’s Kyoshin Temple have withered away, leaving it unprotected. During the limited-time event, the temple will become a battleground for warriors from Chimera and Horkos, who’ve gathered to fight for resources – only to find themselves fending off mirages of Samurai with unknown capabilities.

From now through July 1, Visions of the Kyoshin puts a new spin on Dominion mode: mysterious warriors possessed by powerful entities battle for control of two points on the map. Defeating them grants a temporary buff, and reveals a glimpse of another world to the player who deals the final blow.

A free Event Pass will be available during Visions of the Kyoshin, granting progression rewards including a new ornament, battle outfit, and mood effect. New weapons can also be looted during the event. In addition to the event, Mirage launches with dried-out versions of four maps – Temple Garden, Belvedere, Highfort, and Forest – as well as a premium Battle Pass that grants gear designed to evoke Japanese mythology and the look of cracked, dry earth.

A new hero will also join For Honor‘s Samurai faction later this season, following the TU2 update.

Whether they’re mirages or otherworldly beings, the temple’s guardians are waiting – do you have what it takes to put them to rest? Jump into For Honor’s Visions of the Kyoshin event and find out.

Blockbuster updates for iPhone, iPad and Mac revealed today: how to watch Apple event live

There’s a huge evening ahead for Apple fans as the company hosts its WWDC developers conference, where we expect to see all of the shiny new features coming to iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac this year. The next version of iOS is always the star of the show, and iOS 15 will be no different. This upcoming release is widely-tipped to redesign the Lock Screen, make Control Centre more customisable, and keep iMessage competitive with rival messaging apps like WhatsApp.

As well as iOS 15 being unveiled, Apple looks almost certain to lift the lid on its new iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and macOS software so it could be a very busy evening. WWDC usually takes place in front of a live audience but, due to the current COVID 19 restrictions, this year’s keynote will all be available to view online.

WWDC 2021: How to watch the announcements tonight

WWDC is a week-long event, but unless you’re developing an app for iPhone, you’ll only want to tune-in for the two-hour opening keynote. This is when CEO Tim Cook will take to the stage in Cupertino, California, to reveal some of the biggest changes to its most popular products.

The show kickstarts tonight (Monday June 7, 2021) at 6pm BST. That’s 10 PT or 1pm ET if you’re based in the US and 7pm CET. Those in Australia who want to watch will have to set their alarms for 3am on June 8. Ouch.

If you fancy tuning in then you can find the live stream on Apple’s event page HERE. Those with an Apple TV can also watch on the big screen via the decided Apple Event app found on their set-top box.

On iPhone and iPad, the easiest way to watch is via the YouTube livestream. You’ve probably already got the YouTube app on your device and, if you have a Chromecast at home, you’ll be able to throw the footage to the big screen too. WATCH WWDC 2021 ON YOUTUBE HERE

Those on Windows 10, Chromebook or Mac can also use the YouTube link above, or can watch on Apple’s own website. If you have a Mac, the video player on Apple’s site supports its picture-in-picture mode, so you’ll be able to watch while working on other things. That might be a good reason to pick over YouTube, but there’s no other difference in terms of picture quality or features.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s event, Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations and Enterprise and Education Marketing said: “We love bringing our developers together each year at WWDC to learn about our latest technologies and to connect them with Apple engineer.

“We are working to make WWDC21 our biggest and best yet, and are excited to offer Apple developers new tools to support them as they create apps that change the way we live, work, and play.”

Along with big updates to its software, Apple sometimes throws in a few surprises with WWDC often used to launch new hardware.

One device that could be unveiled tonight is a fully refreshed MacBook Pro which could be powered by Apple’s next-generation of silicon. The firm has already unleashed a swathe of new laptops and desktop PCs that now feature the M1 processor but things could get even more impressive thanks to the rumoured M2 chip.

Express.co.uk will be watching all of tonight’s announcements and will bring you full details as soon as they are announced.

Fortnite season 7 COUNTDOWN: Date, time, leaks, live event, servers, Alien Battle Pass

Fortnite season 7 release date and start time is fast approaching. Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite season 7 will have a release date of Tuesday June 8, and from the looks of it the next Battle Pass will have an aliens theme. The promotional material for Fortnite season 7 has the tagline “they’re coming”, while teaser images posted on the Fortnite Twitter account all hint at an ET theme too.

The teaser images show alien weaponry that will be coming in Fortnite season 7, along with what looks like a spaceship beam in the background and a cryptic alien language.

This spaceship beam has already been seen in-action in-game with players in matches reporting seeing other characters get beamed up into the sky mid-way through a Battle Royale battle.

The Fortnite ARG marketing for season 7 has also seen “they’re coming” posters pop-up in real-life locations around the world with influencers also getting cryptic packages in the post about alien phenomena.

In the run-up to the Fortnite season 7 launch a leak has emerged which could reveal the third (and likely final) teaser.

The potentially leaked teaser 3 video shows a silhouette of a city with an alien spaceship beam in the middle.

A crop circle, cow and a mysterious figure have also allegedly been spotted in this video.

Apart from this leak, rumours are circulating that a Fortnite season 7 live event could be in the works.

However, so far Epic Games has not confirmed whether there will be a live event to kickstart the new Battle Pass or not.

The last time there was a Fortnite live event at the start of a new event this was announced well in advance.

That event was the Zero Crisis Finale which was available as soon as Fortnite season 6 went live.

If Epic Games follows a similar playbook for Fortnite season 7 then we could see a new live event available on release.

But we’ll have to wait and see whether that turns out to be the case or not.

A start time for Fortnite season 7 hasn’t been announced yet, but with season 6 server downtime began at 6am UK time with the new Battle Pass available to play a few hours later at 8am UK.

If Epic Games ends up not having a big event to mark the end of Fortnite season 6 and start of Fortnite season 7 it wouldn’t be the first time this happened.

Both Fortnite season 1 and season 3 of chapter 2 didn’t have a major story event.

Fortnite event time: When is the Fortnite live event coming out, is it before Season 7?

Epic Games are launching a massive update this week, and gamers want to know more about what is being planned for the traditional Fortnite live event. The release of Season 6 saw a change in the usual schedule, and thing could be running a little differently again this week.

Fortnite Season 5 ended with some unique differences, with Epic Games offering a single-player intromission for gamers to enjoy at their own leisure. They also made it possible to watch the finale of the Fortnite Season 5 Zero Crisis on release day, another big change.

Previous seasons have seen Epic Games host massive Fortnite events across all servers, with gamers having to jump in at an exact time to catch everything.

Some of these have been interactive, while others have been for pure visual fun, including some that have brought music to the world of Battle Royale.

But with the end of Fortnite Season 6 scheduled for Tuesday, June 8, Epic Games is still keeping most of its secrets to itself.

From what has been shared so far, Aliens will be invading during Fortnite Season 7, with some gamers finding themselves being abducted during live matches.

A host of teasers have also been shared by Epic this week, which appear to be news bulletins being shared by the Aliens.

One post covering the use of Glasses reads: “When placed onto the face, this strange plastic device seemed to make us appear as unrecognizable. More testing required.”

This suggests that a Superman crossover could be coming to the game, which would fit the Alien theme.

Another post from the Aliens discussing milk cartons adds: “The creatures of the Island seem to use this strange, flimsy holding device to consume their… bone modification liquid?

“Fascinating indeed. Full data upload – 6.8.2021.”

So how will this all fit in with Season 7 and a possible Fortnite event to kick start everything on Tuesday?

The next Fortnite live event has not been confirmed yet by Epic Games, meaning we have to do a little bit of guesswork.

Based on the previous season, Epic could choose to release a big in-game trailer or a new solo mission as the next Fortnite Event.

This means the Fortnite event time will be tied to when servers go back online for Season 7, which is expected to happen at around 9am BST.

So for now, gamers should plan for the next Fortnite event to be happening around 9am BST on Tuesday, June 8.

This remains a prediction for now and there is a good chance we will be learning more about Fortnite Season 7 very soon.

Gamers have been busy solving puzzles based on a new audio teaser shared on social media by the Fortnite team.

And by following the clues, it looks like something is going to be happening at 5pm BST on June 7.

This could offer the final piece of the puzzle and confirm what will be happening during the start of Fortnite Season 7.

And with the new season scheduled to kick off on June 8, Epic Games doesn’t have a lot of time to share more information.

So it will be worth tracking the latest Fortnite teasers and finding out what is being planned next, with the new clue coming between 4pm BST and 6pm BST, on June 7.

While we don’t know how big the Fortnite event will be for the start of Season 7, we do know that Epic is planning some big changes on PC.

It has been revealed that the PC Battle Royale experience is getting a visual upgrade, with the development team telling fans this week:

“Starting with Chapter 2 Season 7, if you play with your “Quality Presets” option set to Epic, you’ll notice that both Battle Royale and Creative modes benefit from improved Storm and cloud effects, as well as enhanced simulations for smoke and liquid. What’s that mean? Expect cooler-looking explosion, fire, and Slurp effects!

“Speaking of cool, the changes will include improved postprocessing features for bloom and lens flares, as well as improved shadow quality!

“Because of these upgrades, Epic settings will require higher device specifications to run with optimal performance. High settings will become the equivalent of the pre-v17.00 Epic settings, so your experience with High settings may change depending on your specifications.”

Microsoft set to reveal huge Windows 10 update at major event this month

It’s thought the Windows 10 update that’s allegedly been codenamed Sun Valley will get announced during the event.

Rumours have been swirling around about this update for some time now, and it reportedly will bring with it a number of sweeping changes.

A big redesign based on Microsoft’s fluent design language is expected, as is changes to the Action Centre and Start menu.

Earlier this year a job listing, seemingly looking for someone to work on the Sun Valley patch, talked up a big game.

The listing said Microsoft wanted to show everyone that “Windows is back” with the update.

The job spec said: “On this team, you’ll work with our key platform, Surface, and OEM partners to orchestrate and deliver a sweeping visual rejuvenation of Windows experiences to signal to our customers that Windows is BACK and ensure that Windows is considered the best user OS experience for customers”.

The advert added that Microsoft was aiming to “build delightful, polished, iconic experiences for the future of Windows”.

Fortnite Season 7 is coming out with Aliens and special Season 6 end event

Epic Games are planning big things for the start of Fortnite Season 7, which is expected to kick off around June 8. Epic Games might also choose to wait a little longer and kicks things off on June 10

No exact release date or time has been announced yet, but if everything stays on track, we should hear more about it very soon.

Gamers are expecting to see Aliens pop up during Season 7, or at least factor into the overarching storyline in some way.

Clues have already started to appear on the island, with new Crop circles heralding the arrival of some new characters.

What will be interesting is to see how Epic Games decides to handle the Fortnite Season 6 end event.

Live events are extremely popular in Fortnite and are a big part of the storytelling mechanics for each season.

The start of Fortnite Season 6 was a little different, with Epic Games choosing to mix up the usual formula.

Instead of needing to tune in at a specific time, Epic made it possible to participate in the Fortnite Season 6 event when they had updated their game.

A message shared by the Fortnite team at the time explains: “Chapter 2 Season 6 launches on March 16 with the explosive conclusion of the events of Season 5. When you first launch into the new Season, you’ll play through the conclusion of Agent Jones’ mission in the Zero Crisis Finale. The aftermath of this event is sure to shape Reality as we know it.

“Don’t worry, the Zero Crisis Finale is a solo experience and you can play through it whenever you first log in during the Season. Want to watch it online first?

But that doesn’t mean there will be a traditional Fortnite live event. Instead, Epic Games could choose to share another intromission, complete with cinematic live event content.

While there might not be a traditional live event, Epic Games could still have some surprises planned.

There are reports that players are being abducted, and while that might have been switched on early this could herald the start of something special.

While a live event might not happen in the same way as in the past, Epic Games could add some nice elements to the existing servers to make for a different experience.

And at the end of the day, that kind of interaction is what gamers who drop into Fortnite regularly, enjoy.

We can expect more news from Epic Games in the coming days if they stick to the Battle Pass countdown and begin Fortnite Season 7 on June 7, June 8 or June 10.
