Pedernales Electric customers experience outages Tuesday afternoon

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Southwest Airlines said Tuesday it was experiencing nationwide “system issues” that have caused planes to be grounded in some areas of the country, and it’s the second time in the past 24 hours the airline has experienced problems.

The airline tweeted out a message at 1 p.m. saying it was aware of the problem and it was working as quickly as it could to fix it. On Monday, the airline said a “technical issue” with its third-party weather data provider prompted a brief grounding. It isn’t clear if today’s problems are related to Monday’s.

Life after death: Near death experience proves to man that 'God is REAL'

Following a car crash after driving in icy conditions, a man who just gives Ronald as his name believes he encountered the afterlife. The car crash left Ronald on the brink of death, and as a result he believes he caught a glimpse of the afterlife. As he was unconscious, Ronald said he met a bearded man – someone who Ronald believes was God.

Writing on the Near Death Experience Research Foundation (NDERF), Ronald said: “Before I could come to a stop, I found my self standing before this brilliant and awesome light. There was no tunnel.

“I was standing there in a dark spot in front of this light. All I felt was pure Love. I could not move at all and could not hear or speak.

“There were three figures in front of this light. Two of the figures looked like they were talking to each other. The third one saw me and then approached.

“He had this glow around him. He had a beard and moustache. He was talking to me, but I couldn’t hear him.

“All of a sudden a figure appeared within the light. All I could make out was a shadow because of how bright the light was. He lifted up his right hand and the only words I heard was, ‘Now is not your time.’

“And puff, I was back in my body and my car in a ditch. I jumped out of the car, Praised the Lord, and prayed to get out of the ditch and make it home. The Lord helped me.

“The one thing I got out of this is that it’s not just faith any more. It’s fact that GOD does exist. The pure Love I felt in the experience is real and I can’t wait to get that back.”

Some researchers, however, have said these visions are a normal phenomenon and not necessarily a sign of an afterlife.

Dr Sam Parnia, director of critical care and resuscitation research at NYU Langone School of Medicine in New York City, told an Oz Talk: “People describe a sensation of a bright, warm, welcoming light that draws people towards it.

“They describe a sensation of experiencing their deceased relatives, almost as if they have come to welcome them.

“They often say that they didn’t want to come back in many cases, it is so comfortable and it is like a magnet that draws them that they don’t want to come back.

“A lot of people describe a sensation of separating from themselves and watching doctors and nurses working on them.”

Dr Parnia said there are scientific explanations for the reaction, and says seeing people is not evidence of the afterlife, but more likely the brain just scanning itself as a survival technique.

He said thanks to modern technology and science “death does not have to be limited to philosophy and religion, but it can be explored through science”.

He added: “They can hear things and record all conversations that are going on around them.”

US to experience 1st solar eclipse since 2017 tomorrow: How to watch

NEW YORK — For the first time since 2017, Americans can watch a solar eclipse from their backyards!

In the early morning of Thursday, June 10, the moon will block the sun and cast a shadow on Earth.

People in parts of Canada, Greenland, and northern Russia will see the “ring of fire,” or annular solar eclipse. Since the moon is too far away from the Earth, it will not entirely block out the sun, creating the illusion of “a dark disk on top of a larger, bright disk” in the sky, according to NASA.

This path of totality is so narrow that its estimated only 20,000 people live in that path.

Sub-arctic skygazers are still in for a treat. Those in the northeast U.S., eastern Canada, northern Asia and northern Europe will experience a partial eclipse.

This means the moon will only partially obsecure the sunlight, as if it had taken a bite out of the sun, according to NASA. In some U.S. locations during the eclipse, the sun will look like a crescent but won’t have the “ring of fire” effect.

Unlike last month’s lunar eclipse that dazzled the West Coast, next week’s celestial phenomena will be visible in the U.S. along parts of the southeast, northeast, midwest and in northern Alaska. The eclipse will occur before, during, and shortly after sunrise, according to NASA.

WATCH: Can’t snag eclipse glasses? Make your own!

The eclipse will start at 4:12 a.m. ET and will end at 9:11 a.m. ET in the northeastern U.S. The time of maximum eclipse varies by location, according to the Farmer’s Almanac.

In New York City, for example, the maximum eclipse will be visible at 5:35 a.m. with 73% of the sun covered. The sun rises just minutes before, at 5:24 a.m.

The eclipse visible from Chicago will obscure 82% of the sun at its peak — but only the tail end of the eclipse will take place after the 5:15 a.m. sunrise.

Astronomers have emphasized that while it’s safe to view this eclipse, do so only by using eye protection such as “eclipse glasses” or a solar filter.

Isle of Siptah is a New Way to Experience Conan Exiles

Your next Conan adventure begins today, as the long-awaited expansion Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah has now been released on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah

Dark Sorcery

Set on the mysterious Isle of Siptah, just west of the kingdom of Stygia, this adventure will have you face mythical creatures and danger dating all the way back to the first war between the Elder Races and mankind. Discover mysterious artifacts in ancient vaults to learn more about what transpired here eons ago, loot new and powerful items and recipes – and build your new kingdom amidst awe-inspiring and deadly surroundings. But hurry; three new factions have started colonizing the island, and they don’t take kindly to outsiders.

Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah

To the east, Stygian Mercenaries have started rebuilding their colony of old. On the western shores, Black Corsairs have built strongholds for their raiding parties. And near the foreboding tower in the middle of the island are the Accursed. Once men, these unfortunate souls have been twisted and demented by the dark tower’s sorcery. They have allied themselves with creatures of the outer dark and now threaten to engulf the whole island in darkness.

Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah

Zath, the Spider-God

You must choose your own path to survive, build and dominate the island. You can choose an honorable path and ally yourself with equal-minded friends, increasing your numbers by freeing thralls that have been captured by the Stygian Mercenaries or the dreaded Black Corsairs. Or you can devote yourself to darkness by becoming a follower of the great spider-god Zath. Through worship and sacrifice, she will allow you to summon forth her avatar – a powerful entity that can be used to obliterate your enemies with venom and an army of spiderlings.

Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah

New Features

In addition to a new map, almost identical in size with that of the Exiled Lands in the base game, Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah features 12 new dungeons, known as Vaults. Inside are horrible creatures, ancient puzzles, and powerful loot. There is also The Maelstrom, a massive storm swirling around the center of the island, that spawns monsters from the outer dark. You will encounter Surges of Sorcery, forbidden magic spewing from the dark tower, summoning creatures from other parts of Hyboria – or even other realms.

Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah

Fortunately, you will also be bolstered by an abundance of new and powerful weapons and armor, new building sets – and the new rhino mount, capable of charging down your enemies with its massive horns.

Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah

Your eyes are drawn towards the center of the island, where a dark tower looms above the landscape. The violent storm that swirls around it seems to gather strength and unspeakable horrors stalk within. But your most dangerous foe may be the other survivors on the island, as resources are scarce and the fight for survival is savage and brutal. New map – Isle of Siptah Start a fresh, new experience on the massive Isle of Siptah. Explore sun-drenched beaches strewn with shipwrecks, dense and tall Redwood forests, broad valleys dotted with ancient Acheronian ruins, a resettled Stygian colony, ominous camps overrun with pirates and the foreboding Tower of Siptah at the island’s center. New dungeon type – Vaults Uncover long-forgotten vaults holding the remnants of elder races from a distant past. Discover hidden halls, solve ancient puzzles, and slay the fiends and demons within. Loot valuable treasures and harness the power of the elder races. New feature – Maelstrom A massive storm swirls around the dark tower at the center of the island. Powered by sinister magic, it spawns horrifying monsters from the outer void, attacking anyone who dares to venture within. Defeat these horrors to get your hands on a brand-new resource and unique rewards. New feature – Surges of sorcery Powerful surges of forbidden magic, granted by the elder god of Nyarlathotep, shoot forth from the Tower of Siptah. New rhino mount, building sets, and more Charge into battle and slay your enemies from atop the ferocious rhino mount. Experience Shadow and Sun in the Latest Paladins Update

To most, he is the Shadow, a terrifying assassin that is known only through vague whispers and rumors. He lives in the night and commands the darkness, using powerful magic to stalk and ambush his targets. However, the threat of Yagorath is so great that even this ninja has revealed himself and joined the forces of the realm to help take her down. He is Vatu the Shadow, the newest playable Paladins champion!

Vatu is a legendary ninja known throughout the realm for his deadly accuracy and ruthless efficiency. Though Vatu has been associated with the Thousand Hands guild, a criminal organization of skilled thieves and assassins, his true loyalty lies with the Ska’drin, his race that has historically been persecuted and discriminated against. Everything he does goes towards making the world a safer place for his people, and that means stopping Yagorath and the Maw’s impending destruction at all costs!

Vatu is the latest flank champion to join Paladins and wields mysterious shadow magic coupled with his in-hand weapon of choice, the kunai. His primary fire launches three kunai in a cone in front of him, while his alternate fire allows him to toss a series of sticky bombs which adhere to terrain and enemies alike before detonating after a brief delay.

Vatu’s most versatile ability, ambush, allows him to instantly appear behind an enemy to deal damage and Vatu can refire this ability within a short time frame to teleport to a different target. Vatu also has a dash ability that grants damage resistance while he quickly moves in a straight line, allowing him to close the gap or get out of harm’s way. Nightfall, Vatu’s ultimate ability, causes the ninja to charge up for a brief period before rushing forward, dealing damage, and stunning any unfortunate victims caught in his path. The longer Vatu charges, the farther he will travel.

In addition to Vatu, this update also launches our new Beach Bash Event Pass, celebrating sunshine, sand, and spending time with good friends. Players can unlock Beachside Octavia and Ripjaw Buck along with more than 20 other rewards including exclusive sprays, deathstamps, and an alternate version of each skin!

The Shadows update also debuts a much-requested feature from the community – limited time modes. These offer fun and unique ways to play Paladins, such as Hide and Seek, where everyone plays as Strix with unlimited stealth charge and Knockaround, where Ash and Bomb King duke it out with increased knockback on their abilities. New limited time modes will be open for anyone to play every Friday through Sunday, so players should make sure to keep checking back to experience new ways to play Paladins!

We can’t wait for players to experience the shadow magic of Vatu and sunshine of the Beach Bash Event Pass. The Shadows update is available now in Paladins – download today.

Sharon Stone describes her near-death experience from a stroke as 'strange and beautiful'

“Then when I came to, I was on a table in a very quiet emergency room, which is never good – when it’s like no one’s in there, just the doctor, no one’s running around, nobody’s doing anything urgently.

“And the doctor is just looking at me so compassionately, and I was like, ‘Am I dying?’ Because I realised this is a bad situation.”

After revealing she then passed out again, it was here that she remembers seeing a “tunnel of light” after she was laid on a gurney to be transferred elsewhere.

“All of a sudden, that was it and I was just gone,” Sharon explained.

Harry and Meghan defended by Colin Jackson as he details own experience: 'There’s no but!'

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Colin insisted that based on his own past experiences, people should not tell the couple how they should feel or “try to put words into their mouths” to fit their agenda.

Colin said: “I always just basically think your perception is your reality, so I don’t know how Meghan and Harry felt, but if that’s the way they felt then that’s their reality.

“So we can’t really look at them and go, ‘Well, that never happened then!’ If they tell you that it happened, then it happened!”

He added: “But, you know, I always simplify things when I give try and give analogies with stories, but that’s how I generally feel.

“So if what Meghan said is how she felt, then what she said is how she felt.

Near death experience: Woman claims time STOPPED in the afterlife

If there is life after death, it remains to be proven. However, one person believes she has the answer after a near death experience. A woman named Anne accidentally drowned, which led to her temporarily dying.
When she was clinically dead – which is where the heart stops beating – Anne believes she was transported to another realm.

It was here that time stopped for her and she was given a review of her life, according to her description on the Near Death Experience Research Foundation.

Before she was sent back to her mortal realm, Anne says she was given a choice whether she stayed or returned.

Anne said: “Once I accepted that I was going to die, time stopped. I was in complete darkness and surrounded by love.

“For the first time in my life, I was at complete peace and without any anxiety.

“I understood that everything was one. Then I had a life review.

“At the end of the life review, I heard a voice say, ‘Choose’. In that instant, I understood that I could stay in complete peace or I could choose to return.

“My first thought was, ‘This place is really nice, I’m not sure I want to go back’.

“But then I knew that this current time is a very important time to be on Earth and that I would come back.

“The difference was that I would be reborn and need to relearn how to walk, talk, and think. That would be hard. Understanding this, I chose to return to my body.”

Anne lived to tell the tale, but she is now convinced of an afterlife.

However, researchers are not so convinced Anne’s experience is necessarily proof of the afterlife, but rather a natural reaction in the brain as an individual approaches death.

Neuroscientist Christof Koch, president and chief scientist of the Allen Institute for Brain Science, believes near death experience visions are typically signs the brain is running out of oxygen or scanning itself for survival techniques.

Dr Koch wrote in an article for Scientific American: “I accept the reality of these intensely felt experiences. They are as authentic as any other subjective feeling or perception.

“As a scientist, however, I operate under the hypothesis that all our thoughts, memories, precepts and experiences are an ineluctable consequence of the natural causal powers of our brain rather than of any supernatural ones.

“That premise has served science and its handmaiden, technology, extremely well over the past few centuries. Unless there is extraordinary, compelling, objective evidence to the contrary, I see no reason to abandon this assumption.

“Modern death requires irreversible loss of brain function. When the brain is starved of blood flow (ischemia) and oxygen (anoxia), the patient faints in a fraction of a minute and his or her electroencephalogram, or EEG, becomes isoelectric—in other words, flat.

“This implies that large-scale, spatially distributed electrical activity within the cortex, the outermost layer of the brain, has broken down.”

Life after death: Car crash victim felt 'no fear or panic' in vivid near-death experience

Jeff then recalled a car ploughing into his minivan at high speeds and everything was suddenly filled with light.

Although he could see the world around him, Jeff claims everything moved in slow motion and appeared to be bathed in different shades of bright, white light.

He said: “At this point, I felt a strong presence of an extremely loving and compassionate being, although I could not see them.

“There was no fear or panic, just an awareness of what was happening.

“Not realising that I had left my body, I was very surprised to be able to see the back of my head as it hit the passenger side window and shattered the glass.”

Jeff did not feel any pain and instead was treated to a “review” of his life experiences.

British and Irish Lions: Warren Gatland experience key vs South Africa says Dan Biggar

Dan Biggar is backing Warren Gatland to turn the dreamers who have been on cloud nine since their Lions selection into believers in South Africa.
The Wales stand-off will be reunited with his long-time national coach on the tour and knows the Lions can count on him delivering the winning mentality the Lions will need this summer in the world champions’ backyard.

“It is always great to work with someone who has had the success Warren has had,” said Biggar.

“Warren changed the mindset of Welsh rugby when he came in turning us from people who hoped to win to believing that every time you took to the field you were going to win and you have the ability to win.

“That is what he will do well – especially in a short period when he hasn’t got time to do everything he would want to do if he was a national coach or a club coach.

“Gats’ experience in these situations and big games and big moments will be crucial.”

Biggar, who piloted Wales to the title in this season’s Six Nations, went on the 2017 tour to New Zealand but found himself stuck behind Johnny Sexton and Owen Farrell in the queue for the No 10 jersey and did not play a Test.

But with Sexton overlooked for the tour and Farrell not at his best for England in the championship, the Northampton stand-off is aiming to change that this time around.

“Missing out on Test selection last time was tough to take but I was also up against Owen and Johnny at their absolute peak,” he said.

“It was a great tour and I loved it – I felt like I played some really good rugby – but that’s a huge aim for this time around and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t.”

When the revised itinerary is confirmed on Wednesday, it will see the Lions facing two of the three Tests at altitude in Johannesburg.

It will be a uniquely challenging tour all round with six weeks spent in a bubble but Biggar thinks the difficulties will only pull the squad tighter.

The Lions, as always, will be a band of brothers.

“On tour last time there were people I thought I would never get on with in a million years but I ended up getting quite close with,” said Biggar.

“I thought I would want to jump on the nearest plane home when James Haskell came on tour but he ended up an absolute legend.

“He got called up late and everyone who wasn’t English was thinking: ‘I can’t believe we have got to spend seven weeks with this bloke’ but actually he was one of the best blokes you will ever meet. I am actually meeting him for a coffee next week. That is how it pans out.”

Wonderkid Louis Rees-Zammit is meanwhile being backed to flower spectacularly this summer hothoused in the unique Lions environment.

The 20-year-old, who is the youngest player to be selected for the tourists in 62 years, enjoyed a dazzling first Six Nations.

But coach Warren Gatland expects him to make even more of an impact on the hard grounds of South Africa this summer with the cream of the home nations around him.

“There is no doubt about his pace, there is no doubt about his finishing and scoring,” said Gatland.

“He is still not the finished article, he is still working on his game but to me it is not always picking players who are the finished article, it is thinking how much better can they be by being in a Lions squad with quality players around them and bringing them on.

“There are a few players in that boat and Louis is definitely one of those who has burst onto the scene but could continue to get better and better.”

Rees-Zammit, who will have the responsibility of carrying the squad’s soft toy lion mascot around South Africa for six weeks, only made his Test debut in October.
